<p> In this episode of Land & Blast, we're excited to learn more about the vineyard and winery industry from our in-house industry expert, Ashley Lacer. A complex industry with a variety of business sectors and scales, Southern Oregon is home to vineyard and winery properties that range from commercial grape operations to boutique vineyard estates to quaint, inviting tasting rooms. The irrigation resources available and the Rogue Valley’s climate create a conducive environment for the production of high-quality wine grapes. The Southern Oregon AVA encompasses Douglas County with the Elkton, Red Hill, and Umpqua Valley AVAs and spreads across Josephine and Jackson Counties within the Rogue Valley and Applegate Valley AVAs. The Rogue Valley AVA includes the Applegate Valley AVA and is an adventurer's paradise. It encompasses nearly 1.2M acres of land in Jackson and Josephine Counties, including Oregon’s first winery, Valley View Winery, founded in 1873 by Peter Britt.
