‘Om in die paradys te kan boer’
Rossouw Cillié is die voorsitter van Pro-Agri en uitvoerende hoof van Laastedrif-boerdery. Dié boerdery is ’n mega-onderneming wat oor verskeie plase strek in die omgewing van Ceres en in die Sandveld. Rossouw het die boerdery binne twee dekades opgebou van ’n gewone vrugte- en skaapplaas tot een van Suid-Afrika se grotes. Landbouskrywers SA het hom in 2013 as nasionale Boer van die Jaar aangewys. Naas groente, vrugte en vee is daar ook ’n bemagtigingsplaas waarby meer as 135 werkers betrokke is.

Hiér word drome ’n werklikheid
Ons kuier in die Klein-Swartbergpas. Mnr. Christof Cloete boer al byna 40 jaar lank met steenvrugte op die plaas Rietvlei in die distrik Laingsburg in die Wes-Kaap. Christof was voorheen voorsitter van Koup Produsente, die landboukoöperasie op Laingsburg wat onlangs sy 75ste bestaansjaar gevier het, asook voorsitter van Agri Wes-Kaap. Hy is ook al meer as 10 jaar lank ’n mentor en mede-aandeelhouer van die bemagtigingsprojek op die nabygeleë plaas Doornkloof. Hierdie plaas se vrugte is bestem vir die droëvrugtebedryf.

Derek Mathews: ‘Weet wat in jou grond aangaan’
Ons kuier by mnr. Derek Mathews, ondervoorsitter van Graan SA. Hy boer met mielies, sonneblomme en sojabone op die plaas Silverton by Sannieshof in Noordwes. Hy boer al van 1983 af en is die vierde geslag van sy familie op die plaas. Sedert hy na bewaringsboerdery omgeswaai het, het hy meer as 60 liter brandstof op elke hektaar bespaar. Daar is ook minder las van winderosie. Weens die droogte moes hy al verskeie planne maak om staande te bly. In 2016 het hy Graan SA se eerbewys vir inspirerende leierskap ontvang.
