How To Be A Good Enough Mum
Motherhood can feel like an emotional rollercoaster where we often feel a sense of failure. In a culture of perfectionism and an age of comparison it goes without saying that parenting and motherhood has fallen into these traps. The reality is that perfection isn’t real and actually we need to realise we only need to be good enough mums. Our children need to see us fail and learn that valuable life lesson... that we are all on a journey of growth. In today’s podcast I chat to Ellen Baldwin, founder of Mummy Shock in Brighton and my oldest and dearest friend since the age of 13! How can we survive the summer holidays? As mums how can we learn and model to our kids that failure is not only ok but that imperfection is a gift? How do step outside of the game of Mum Top Trumps? For all those mums who feel like they’re not good enough, have had a bad day (again!) and want to grow emotionally healthy children...listen on. This podcast is for you, for me and for every mum. Last Night I Dreamt is so much more than a jewellery shop. It's a community where stories are shared - from the stories behind each of our brands and every piece of jewellery, to the story behind why someone is buying a particular item of jewellery. Forever Jewellery with V by Laura Vann
My love of jewellery started as a little girl. I loved my mum’s jewellery box filled with my Grandma Beatrice’s jewellery. Most of it was probably costume but one stand out piece set me off on my jewellery journey - a 1930’s gold locket. When I opened the shop I discovered a brand called V by Laura Vann which took inspiration from Art Deco heirloom jewellery. I was hooked! Today I’m chatting with Laura Vann about how she started V, her desire to create timeless jewellery, sustainability and buying less but buying well! Ethical practices in the jewellery world is something close to my heart so this podcast is definitely one to get you thinking. Last Night I Dreamt is so much more than a jewellery shop. Love, Diversity and Black Lives Matter
The brutal death of George Floyd sent shock waves around the world. Global mass protests with the Black Lives Matter movement prompted many businesses, politicians and services to step back and reflect on their own values in relation to diversity. We often disassociate ourselves with the US thinking the UK isn't as bad or extreme. And yet over the years with cases like Stephen Lawrence and the multitude of stories experienced by many black people around the UK we have to look at ourselves as a nation in order that we can move forward and bring about change. In this podcast I chat to Candice Atterton, my old school friend and Labour councillor and someone I've proudly watched campaign for justice and love over the years, about her experience of growing up in a mixed heritage family in Leeds, racism in the UK and how we can be actively anti-racist. Last Night I Dreamt is so much more than a jewellery shop. It's a community where stories are shared - from the stories behind each of our brands and every piece of jewellery, to the story behind why someone is buying a particular item of jewellery.
