21: Yakuza (2005 - Present) [Jade]
Hello for 2020! It's a new year, and Sexuali-tea is bringing you new content. In this episode, Lysa and Jade discuss the decade-and-a-half old game series Yakuza. Content warnings for transphobia, transphobic slurs, misgender, rape and sexual violence, and homophobia. There is a little issue in the first half of the episode where I dropped the microphone for a second, and I tried fixing it but it's still noticeable, so apologies for that! There aren't many spoilers for the game series as Jade kept most of it purposefully vague but if you're unsure and don't want to be spoiled at all I'd suggest giving this one a miss. 11: David Lynch (1966 - Present) [Tahlya]
You know what's great about this podcast? Not only making new friends, learning about other people's interests and hyperfixations, or researching media I've never come across before, but the most fun thing about it is finding something you can really sink your teeth into, and then rip to shreds. RIP being the operative word here, and David Lynch's career being the something. Listen to this episode to find out just how much Lysa and guest Tahlya hate Mulholland Drive, along with other seminal, phallic and downright Freudian classics from this esteemed director of more than fifty years. Content warnings for this episode include mentions of: sexual assault and rape, femicide, abortion, suicide, animal cruelty and queerphobia. Here is the Margaret Atwood quote Tahlya mentioned. More on the Hays Code, which state that "crime and immorality could never be portrayed in a positive light. If someone performed an immoral act, they had to be punished on screen". Elizabeth and Gav's The Rec Center weekly fandom newsletter. Fannish Podcast for all you fandom-heads out there. Tahlya also mentioned the Fresh Blood Festival, which unfortunately I cannot find much information about, but you can follow Vena Cava Productions on Facebook to stay updated. And lastly, check out Tahlya's podcast General Queeries. It's so funny and the Stonewall episodes are brilliant. You can follow Sexuali-tea Podcast on Twitter and Instagram at queerasmedia, as well as on Facebook at The Russo Test. Check out my accompanying blog which spawned this podcast. And hey, if you'd love to give a little bit to the show and to keep it ad-free, you can subscribe to the Gay-treon for as little as $3 a month and get a special gift.
