Lavender You explores media representation for LGBTQ+ women & femmes. In each episode host Jamie Margolin chats with trailblazing creatives who have pushed the boundaries of representation in TV, music and more. Our name is a nod to a group of lesbians in the 1970’s called the “Lavender Menace,” who protested their exclusion from mainstream feminism.
Seeing queerness normalized and celebrated can make all the difference to LGBTQ+ youth who are struggling. As part of Suicide Prevention Month, Jamie spoke with The Trevor Project's Sam Brinton about how representation saves lives, whether in media, politics or the seemingly mundane moments of everyday life. Plus Sam talks about their personal journey, advocacy and Trevor's life-saving 24/7/365 phone, text and chat lines, which you can find at thetrevorproject.org/help.
