What’s good Thyckums? We’ve made it to the end of Season 1. My youngest brother Demetrius stopped by the Den to recap the season with me, take shots, and spill tea. Hear how having a Gay brother makes him more compassionate and better at his job, who I have (or would have had) his blessings on, and being a straight ally. Stay after for a few segments that didn’t make the main show. See y’all in September!

LOVE IS... SHOWING UP
It’s just me and my 🍑 Crown sitting in the Den with a few things on our mind. We wanted to give you an update on the show as well as some Valentine’s words of wisdom/encouragement. Love yourself, show up for yourself and commit to yourself. Ok, bye!

SON OF A PREACHER MAN
Dammit, Aretha was right! 🙈 This is the second guest who is a PK. Maybe I have a type? So Silvanus stopped by The Den to discuss/debate what went wrong in our relationship. Although I’m sticking to my guns... for the most part, we had a fruitful conversation touching on predatory dating, recognizing and resisting trauma bonds, having compassion for our parents, and self-respect, among other things. Find out what culinary adventure almost got me beat down when I was a kid (Momma, this is your trigger warning) and how Silvanus used to try to pray the gay away. Maybe y’all can help me figure out why I keep dating people in Houston because atp I keep putting my hand in the fire. I got one more try in me, though. Houston be good to me 🥴 Oh, he sings, too. I love a creative so I included a clip of him performing. Y’all, tell me what you think. Enjoy!

PUPPY LOVE
Let the record reflect that I’ve always loved thick girls! Y’all welcome to The Den: Krystal. My high school sweetheart, my first love dropped in for a much anticipated, long overdue conversation. Not just any conversation but THE CONVERSATION (she never knew I was gay and found out through this podcast 😳). 18 years, a husband and two kids later (not me, her lol) we are still good friends. Listen in as we catch up on each other’s love lives, have THE CONVERSATION, compare notes and crack jokes. We happened to record on Negro Powers Night, December 21. So we tap into our power that we are taking into 2021. Krystal drops a few relationship nuggets as she shares how her marriage is intentional and mission driven. That’s a word! We have a few funny stories in there, too. All music in this episode is performed by KALVIN B, y’all may recognize his velvety voice from the music in the first episode. He is also Krystal’s younger brother and a friend of mine. That whole family is dope tbh. Anyway, lmk what y’all think! Enjoy the show.

QUEEN KITTY
I think it’s high time that big boys and big girls unite! Today’s episode is a slight departure from the rollercoaster that is my dating life... or lack thereof as our next guest has never seen me naked. We welcome our first celebrity guest who happens to be my play sis, Kashuna Perfected. Kashuna is an actress and comedienne in Hollywood who is riding the waves of an actor’s life while navigating being a recent divorcée and re-entering the dating scene as a “big girl.” You may recognize her from Netflix’s 100 Humans, Tru TV’s Storage Wars, Divorce Court, Laff Tracks, a few Todrick Hall skits, music videos and more. We had Friendsgiving in L. A. and decided to get on the mics after we woke up from an extended nap at 4;10 am. This is the result... At some points we forgot we were recording and just had a ki like we always do (shit may get weird) but in general we touched on managing expectations in friendships and relationships, fat fetishes, categorizing friends and associates, loving yourself so you can love somebody else, and, of course, gratitude. I accidentally left my phone playing so y’all heathens get a little KCS but the song actually fits 💁🏾♂️ Today on IN THE THYCK OF IT: Kashuna Fix My Life 😩 Stick around to hear a few clips of Kashuna’s work. And check out my momma’s new Webseries “Out in the South”

SEX WITH THE LIGHTS ON...
The homie, Reggie, stopped by The Den to lay it on thyck and talk about his evolution. Reggie is the man behind @definitive_style on IG, helping us big dudes get our fashion together. He’s been getting me together since freshman year 🙈 Let me tell you what it was like growing up husky, black and gay 🥴🙄 We explore church hurt, family hurt, The Yard (college days), rebuilding yourself, confidence, finding black love and why I have sex with the lights on and you should, too 💁🏾♂️ This week on IN THE THYCK OF IT: Help, we have mismatched freak numbers 😩

ESSENCE BAE
Me, U & Badu... I’m on location in Nashville reliving some magical moments from our meeting at Essence Fest and why, despite having had my face broken, I am still forever grateful for that night and the months that followed. Apparently, I’m finally living in my truth. It may cost me some heaux but that’s the price for freedom... I guess 🤷🏾♂️ This week on In The Thyck of It: it’s the “appearance of impropriety” for me 😩. BIRTHDAY SEX OR BUST 🥴
Welcome back Thyckums! Just so we’re clear, I am not a f@ckboy in this episode 🙄. I have/had a travelbae. We hit a rough patch that cancelled our travel plans before COVID was a thing. Sedrick stopped by The Den to see if we can work through our misunderstanding. Will his buddy pass be renewed? As always, feel free to slide in our DMs on Twitter or Instagram @Layitonthyck. If you have any questions or feedback or if you would like to submit a story for our advice segment, “In The Thyck Of It”, e-mail is at Layitonthyck@gmail.com or hit the DMs. Intro by DJChoppalot

DID YOU JUST CALL ME A F@CKBOY?
Everybody has “the one who got away.” Did I play myself? How did we fumble the bag? Have I judged f@ckboys too harshly in the past? Old wounds resurface when Jarred stops by The Den for a little talk. We can’t be friends...or can we? Healing, growth, dating intentionally, and deliberateness are all on the table. Tell us what you think at layitonthyck@gmail.com Intro music by DJChoppalot. Outro music “Healing Hurts” by Kalvin B.
