Thankfully, he recalls, God got a hold of him and showed him that pride was getting in the way of becoming the leader he was made to be.</p> <p>Patrick discusses the importance of leaders serving those around them and not just waiting for retirement to become philanthropic or charitable. Tom Wright on What Made Paul Such a Great Leader, the Value of Intellect & What People Are Forgetting About Christianity’s View of Suffering
<p><a href="http://krishk.com/"><u>Dr. Krish Kandiah</u></a> has the pleasure of interviewing New Testament Scholar and Bishop <a href="https://www.ntwrightonline.org/"><u>Tom Wright</u></a> this week. They recorded this in the spring of 2020, a few months into the lockdown, shortly after Tom released his book <a href="https://www.amazon.ca/God-Pandemic-Christian-Reflection-Coronavirus-ebook/dp/B088BJP43K"><u>God and the Pandemic</u></a>. Tom unpacks some of the concepts from there, but then they also journey through a collection of other topics from Tom’s start in leadership, to Paul and Timothy’s styles of leading, why leaders should read intellectual works, and how we can process suffering in light of the global moment of COVID-19.</p> <p>Tom dives deeper into how Paul was unique in that he was incredibly gifted in multiple ways and was an intersection of special traits that positioned him perfectly for the tasks Jesus gave him. He was a Roman citizen, fluent in Greek and Hebrew, culturally astute to both the broader society and also Judaism. Paul was also incredibly smart, driven as a leader, and capable of developing others different from him like Timothy. There’s a lot we can learn from the leadership of Paul and Tom gives brilliant insight to this. When she started at Harvard Law School, Roger Fisher, famous for the <a href="https://www.pon.harvard.edu/research_projects/harvard-negotiation-project/hnp/"><u>Harvard Negotiation Project</u></a>, took her under his wing and quickly immersed her into the world of negotiations and psychology.</p> <p>Her experience brought her to a vast need in politics, business, charities, and families: how to resolve conflicts. This led to her writing <a href="https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004CR6ALA/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1"><u>Difficult Conversations</u></a>, which was named one of the 50 most important books of psychology.
