My daughter just graduated college at 19. And while we were getting ready for the ceremony, going through old photos and videos, I found this one picture. Me holding her hand, her holding Minnie Mouse. We recreated it on graduation day. Same pose, completely different moment. And it hit me that the last time she actually held my hand was for that photo. I don't remember the last time before that. That's what this episode is about. A few weeks ago, I was sitting at a Costco gas station when I watched a woman pull into the wrong pump and stretch the hose around the back of her van.My immediate thought?"How entitled."A friend I was talking to on the phone saw it differently.He said maybe she was having a rough day. About five or six years ago, I built a show called Learn For 2. The idea was simple: learn something every day, then share it with someone else. I did it five days a week for over a year. 270+ audio episodes. And then life happened, and it stopped.But I never stopped thinking about it.This is episode one of the reboot, Learn For 2.0. In this episode, I talk about where the original show came from, what it taught me about awareness, why I'm bringing it back in a different form, and what's changed about how I want to approach it.The biggest shift: I'm no longer trying to teach. I'm trying to observe. There's a difference, and it matters.Going forward, this show will cover what I'm noticing in everyday life: family moments, health stuff I've been going through, youth sports, things that happen at Costco.
