Learning Horizons - previously ‘The NAME it Podcast’ – started out as a ‘special series’ exploring the re-imagining of education. That series sparked a deeper interest, concern, and passion and became the impetus for making learning horizons (what the future of education and learning might become) the clear focus for this podcast.
For over a decade now I have been asking questions and soaking up knowledge from teachers, educators, specialists, and countless others directly and indirectly involved in education about what is emerging, what could emerge, and what challenges are yet to be addressed.
Increasingly, it appears that a re-imagining and eventual transformation of education (in the broadest meaning of the term) is one of the vital areas needing attention if we want to address the many interconnected global challenges facing us all. Am I saying it is THE issue everyone should be focusing on? No. But it is the one that I have committed myself to, because it overlaps with my personal values, experience and background in learning and development, adult learning and facilitation, psychology and human growth, and as a previous board member of an independent school.
There are countless interconnected global challenges facing our world today. How are young people, future collaborators and leaders learning to become the citizens and communities we need to meet these challenges? Do we need small experiments or courageous leaps? or a combination of both?
In each episode of Learning Horizons, my guests and I explore the emerging questions, challenges, and opportunities for re-imagining learning that are dawning on the horizon.

Guest Bio:
Brooke is a poet, meditation instructor, and transmitted Zen teacher and lineage holder. She has published two books of poems: Bury the Seed and Feed Your Vow. She loves to create poems from 3 main ingredients: the raw material of everyday life, wholehearted and visceral listening, and the mind of meditation. For her poetry, Brooke is the recipient of the Charles B. Palmer prize from the Academy of American Poets. She has taught at Naropa University in Yoga Studies and at the University of Colorado, Boulder in Dance. Brooke is president and a founding teacher at Dragon Lake Zen, and teaches in-person and online courses and retreats to facilitate the awakening of innate wisdom, compassion, artistry, and play. She lives in Boulder, CO with her husband, Rob, their two sons.

After many years in business as an entrepreneur and investment banker, Tomas Björkman is now a social entrepreneur and the founder of Ekskäret Foundation in Stockholm. He is also the co-founder of the research institute Perspectiva in London, of the Co-creation Loft and the media platform Emerge in Berlin, the 29k.org digital personal development platform and the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) framework. He is a member of the Club of Rome and a fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Science. He is the author of three books: The Market Myth (2016) , The Nordic Secret (together with Lene Rachel Andersen, 2017) and The World We Create (2019). Tomas divides his time between London, Stockholm and Berlin.
