Podcast Overview

Do you remember the “kid’s table” when at family holidays or dinners? I do and that is right where I feel I am at, still, in my walk with God. Some look at it as being “ankle deep” in our walk. Either way, I am at a point where I am tired of being in this state. Every Monday at 6 am I will release short episodes where I am going to share what stood out to me in my time with God. At the end of the day it comes down to where scripture meets your story. You may be in the same spot as I am or you are sitting at the adult table or may need to join the kids table. Either option is ok, these episodes are to start the conversation as to “what stands out to you?” and not only grow myself but help others grow as well. "Here's the thing - leaving the kid's table isn't a one-time decision. It's a daily choice. And every day you choose to go deeper, I'll be right here with you."

Was That God, or Was That Just Life?

Episode Title: Was That God, or Was That Just Life?

Episode Description:

No dreams. No visions. Just people making choices — and living with what comes after. In Genesis 44, Joseph sets a plan in motion, his brothers stand confident in their innocence, and Judah steps up to keep a promise he made. Every move in this chapter is human. Today's episode asks the question underneath so many of our own biggest life decisions: was it God's plan, was it somebody's mistake, or was it just life — and the choices we make?

In This Episode:

Why Genesis 44 stands out from the last few chapters — no vision, no word from God, just human decisions

Joseph's cup, the brothers' confidence, and Judah keeping a promise he made to his father

A decision made right after high school with no plan, no SATs, no applications — and what it cost

Wrestling with the question: God's plan, human error, or just life and our choices?

Key Quote:

"I don't think every hard thing that happens to us is God orchestrating a puppet show. And I don't think it's always our fault either. Sometimes it's just people, making real choices, with real consequences. And God was still present in the middle of all of it."

Next Steps:

Subscribe so you don't miss an episode

Share this with someone ready to go deeper

Submit a prayer request or Tell us what stood out to YOU at https://leaving-the-kids-table.captivate.fm/

Connect With Us:

Website: https://leaving-the-kids-table.captivate.fm/

About Leaving the Kid's Table:

A weekly podcast where we explore God's Word together, one chapter at a time. Weighing the Odds

Episode Title: Weighing the Odds

Episode Description:

What happens when the easy choice suddenly gets expensive? Last time, buying food from Egypt cost Israel a son. Now it's costing him all of them. This episode sits inside that tension: the decisions we know we should make, and the endless weighing that keeps us from making them.

In This Episode:

Why the same kind of decision that was easy in Genesis 42 becomes agonizing in Genesis 43

What Israel actually stood to lose in sending Benjamin to Egypt

The real difference between wisdom and hiding behind wisdom

Genesis 43:14 and what it means to let go without knowing the outcome

A question for whatever you're currently weighing instead of moving on

Key Quote:

"Confidence says I know how this ends. Surrender says I don't, and I'm moving anyway."

Next Steps:

Subscribe so you don't miss an episode

Share this with someone ready to go deeper

Submit a prayer request or Tell us what stood out to YOU at https://leaving-the-kids-table.captivate.fm/

Connect With Us:

Website: https://leaving-the-kids-table.captivate.fm/

About Leaving the Kid's Table:

A weekly podcast where we explore God's Word together, one chapter at a time. The No-Brainer You're Still Debating

Episode Title: The No-Brainer You're Still Debating

Episode Description:

Jacob's sons stand around looking at each other, debating a decision that already has an obvious answer. Chad sees himself in that moment the decisions he already knows he needs to make but keeps talking himself out of. From a decision he's still wrestling with to the mundane choices behind building this very podcast, this episode asks: when has God already put the answer in front of you, and what's stopping you from moving?

In This Episode:

Jacob's blunt question to his sons "Why do you look at one another?" and what it reveals about decisions that don't actually need debating

The real risk behind the brothers' hesitation, and why "no-brainer" doesn't always mean "easy"

Chad's own unresolved decision, and the small, unglamorous choices (like switching microphones) that taught him God doesn't always speak sometimes He just places it in front of you

The difference between decisions that need counsel and decisions that just need courage

Key Quote:

"Some decisions need counsel. Some just need courage. Know which one is in front of you. Then take it."

Next Steps:

Subscribe so you don't miss an episode

Share this with someone ready to go deeper

Submit a prayer request or Tell us what stood out to YOU at https://leaving-the-kids-table.captivate.fm/

Connect With Us:

Website: https://leaving-the-kids-table.captivate.fm/

About Leaving the Kid's Table:

A weekly podcast where we explore God's Word together, one chapter at a time.
