Spending + Spin-offs

Things have escalated... again.

What started as a simple side project to build Fever Dream Apparel has unexpectedly turned into two businesses. In this episode, I share how trying to solve one frustrating problem in clothing production led me down the rabbit hole of building a software platform for independent apparel brands—and why I suddenly found myself hiring a full-stack developer.

Along the way, I'm opening up about something that doesn't get talked about enough: the real cost of starting a business. We often hear that it's easier than ever to become an entrepreneur, but the reality is that even the smallest businesses require thoughtful investments, difficult decisions, and an honest assessment of what you're willing—and able—to put into them.

I'll also give you an update on Fever Dream Apparel, including my first fabric order, custom garment tags, production decisions, and how I'm balancing quality with profitability as the first collection moves into development.

If you've ever wondered what entrepreneurship actually looks like behind the curated Instagram posts, this episode is an honest conversation about startup costs, solving real problems, following unexpected opportunities, and knowing when it's worth betting on yourself.

Let's get into it.

Setting The Mood: Logo + Branding Revealed

The branding episode is here.

In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on the visual identity behind Fever Dream—from the mood board and colour palette to the logo suite, typography, and brand direction. You'll also get a sneak peek at the garment tags that will soon be making their way into production.

Now, full disclosure: my path to branding this business is not going to look exactly like everyone else's.

After more than a decade in marketing and brand strategy, and years spent working alongside incredibly talented creatives, my barriers to entry are admittedly much lower than most. I didn't go through a formal brand development process from start to finish. Instead, I built about 80% of the brand myself and then brought in trusted designers to help refine and elevate the final product.

But don't worry—this episode isn't just a peek behind the curtain. I'll also share practical tips for what to prioritize if a full branding process isn't in the budget, where you can save, where you shouldn't cut corners, and how to build a strong brand without breaking the bank.

Whether you're building your first business or just curious to see how Fever Dream is coming to life, this episode is packed with inspiration, strategy, and a healthy dose of design nerdery.

Let's get into it.
