God’s Intervention | Malachi 2:1-9
August 9th, 2026 Pastor Chad McDonald God laid the heavy burden of a strong prophecy and warning on the shoulders of His messenger, Malachi. But what motivated God to lay such a burden on Malachi? What was behind this strong warning and harsh words? It was not God’s wrath nor was it that God was merely annoyed. The motivation behind it all was God’s covenantal loyal love for His people. God made a covenant with Israel, a commitment to love them and keep them. He promised that He would not leave them or abandon them. And even though they rejected Him repeatedly, He would not let them go. He loved them to the extent that He would not allow them to remain in a place of disobedience and sin. He intervened to strip away what was standing between them and Him. In a similar way, if we know Christ, God has made promises to us. He has promised to never leave us or abandon us. He has promised to sanctify us and one day glorify us. And even though we may sometimes drift into sin and disobedience, He loves us too much to let us remain there. He will go to work to strip away anything that comes between us and Him. I pray you will join us this weekend for one of our worship services as we learn more about God’s love and faithfulness through the prophet Malachi.

Heart Healthy | Malachi 1
Few areas of our health are more dangerous than issues related to our heart. The heart sustains life, and yet it is possible to have a real heart problem with no obvious external symptoms. You may look and feel healthy, but something could be wrong internally that is life threatening. In a similar way, the prophet Malachi dealt with issues of the heart. The nation was no longer dealing with blatant idolatry. The issue was no longer a neglect of the temple. The temple was rebuilt and they were offering sacrifice. The problem in the nation was much deeper. It was an issue of the heart. Their hearts were not right with God, and the issue was eternally dangerous. This week we begin a short study in the book of Malachi. Over the next several weeks, we will follow Malachi as he speaks prophetically to the nation on behalf of God. Malachi is the prophet of purity. He speaks to the nation and to us about what it means to have a pure heart before God. To have a spirituality that gets deeper than our skin and makes us right with God. I pray that you will plan to join us for worship this weekend. Don’t forget our Saturday night service opportunity. We worship every Saturday night at 5 pm. We also now offer an 8 am service on Sunday mornings to go along with our 9:30 am and 11:00 am services. Join us at one of our many service opportunities as we worship the Lord through song and the study of His Word.

On His Heart | John 17:13-26
July 26th, 2026 Pastor Chad McDonald It has been said that while the other gospels show us the body of Jesus, John’s Gospel shows us the soul of Jesus. In no passage is this truer than John 17. We have heard Jesus pray for Himself. We have heard Jesus pray for His disciple band, but in these closing verses we get a chance to overhear Jesus praying for you and me. Very uniquely in these verses Jesus is putting His arms around us, around Lenexa Baptist Church, and telling us what He most desires from His Father for you and me. I pray that you are planning to join us this weekend as we walk through these verses together. Make plans today. Weekend worship is a Friday decision. I’ll see you this weekend!
