About Liberating Motherhood
Mothers are tired of anti-mother misogyny, household labor inequality, and a culture that expects mothers to bear the burdens of its many shortcomings--all without complaint. Mothers are vital to feminism, and have been neglected in feminist discourse for far too long. Mothers are constantly told that political problems are personal--that if we communicate better, mother better, behave better, things will improve. The only path to change is through widespread political change. That's what this podcast is about. Maternal feminism is an important prong of social justice work, and all people interested in a just world should care about what happens to mothers, families, and children.

[…] Yeah, I think a lot of these depictions of these women, maybe not so many recently, but some of the historic depictions that we all read as relatively young children, they sort of weaponize the trope of the crazy, eccentric, weird woman. these women are depicted as crazy and that's actually why i chose the opening story about the woman being depicted as crazy in family court because i do see this parallel that as soon as you depict a woman as crazy without even defining what crazy is just slap that label on her we just immediately begin dehumanizing her as just a fundamentally different type of person yeah and dehumanization is really important in the witch trials just like it is when you pick on any, any group, you know, that if you can take away that person's humanity, it's a lot easier to do absolutely terrible things to them.
