Where does life currently feel out of control for you? In Genesis 37, Joseph is favored, hated, thrown into a pit, and sold into slavery. While human responsibility and evil are real, God’s divine providence upholds and governs every creature, action, and circumstance—from the greatest event to the least. In this message, Brian Mezick unpacks how God works even when His hand cannot be seen, and how believing in His sovereign care changes how we handle both success and suffering.

Rebranding - October 4, 2026
Join us for worship as we continue our series through the book of Genesis! Opening to Genesis 35:1-15, this message—"Rebranding"—follows Jacob as God calls him to return to Bethel, the place where he first encountered the Lord 20 years earlier. Before making the journey, Jacob leads his family to put away their foreign idols, clean their garments, and prepare their hearts to worship the God who answered him in his day of distress.Through this passage, we examine what it means to pause and remember God's past faithfulness in our lives. Arriving safely at Bethel under divine protection, Jacob renames the location "El-bethel" ("God of the House of God"), shifting his focus from the sacred place itself to the living God who kept every promise made to him during two decades of trial. We are reminded that all our church buildings, traditions, and tools are meant solely to point us back to Christ. Finally, God appears to Jacob again, confirming his new name, Israel—"one who wrestles with God." We explore how struggling through life's hard questions and trials isn't a sign of weak faith, but proof of living faith. Tune in to be encouraged that the same covenant-keeping God who guided Jacob will remain unfailingly faithful to keep every single promise made to you in Jesus Christ!

Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places - September 27, 2026
Join us for worship as we continue our series through the book of Genesis! Opening to Genesis 29:1–35, this message "Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places", follows Jacob as he arrives in Haran and meets Rachel at the well. Willing to work seven years for her hand, Jacob experiences the joy of deep romantic devotion, only to face bitter deception when his father-in-law Laban secretly substitutes Leah on his wedding night.Through this narrative, we explore how God uses life’s trials and seasons of discipline to refine us. Jacob, the former deceiver, tastes his own medicine, while unloved Leah struggles for years seeking her husband’s approval through childbearing. Her story takes a dramatic and beautiful turn with the birth of her fourth son, Judah, as she shifts her heart away from human validation to proclaim, "This time I will praise the Lord!"Finally, we find incredible hope in God’s sovereign grace toward the brokenhearted and overlooked. Though Leah was unloved by her husband, she was deeply loved by God, who chose her to be the ancestral mother of King David and Jesus Christ the Messiah. Tune in to be comforted and reminded that when human relationships fall short, the God of all comfort sees you, loves you, and invites you to rest in Him!
