What happens when we know what better care looks like—but the system doesn’t give providers the resources to deliver it?
In this episode, we sit down with Andrew Napier, MD, who brings the unique perspective of both a former combat medic and an emergency physician, for an honest conversation about the gap between airway evidence and EMS reality. We talk video laryngoscopy, rural vs. urban disparities, funding and equipment limitations, training, and whether geography can ultimately change the standard of care a patient receives.
But this conversation goes beyond equipment. We dig into when not intubating may be the better decision, why BVM skills still matter, and the moral injury providers can carry when they know a better outcome may have been possible with better resources.
