Steven Franz on Going Viral, the Bar, and Vegas!

Bob invited Steven Franz on fresh off his first DJ set at Zouk in Las Vegas, and walked away with the story of how a 2 AM street interview became a law firm. Steven filmed his first "drunk interview" in downtown McAllen in 2018, hit 100K views overnight, got dropped from law school a few months later, took the bar exam three times, and now represents some of the same people he used to interview. #LifeCurrency #StevenFranz #956 #RGV #McAllen #DowntownMcAllen #Puro956 #FoodAndPeople Bob sits down with Steven Franz, attorney, DJ, and one of South Texas's most recognizable content creators. Steven walks through a résumé that doesn't make sense on paper: an associate's degree at 16, a bachelor's from St. Edward's before 19, a 100-mile ultramarathon finished in 22:59, 6 Ironmans, and nearly 100 skydives. From there it's Capitol Hill, a camera, and a random question outside a McAllen nightclub that launched a following of over a million. Then the DJ chapter: getting told off by Coachella security, learning to DJ in Tulum in the middle of bar prep, throwing free Jury Box shows for the Valley, and playing Vegas with people in the crowd yelling "956." Plus the truth about how much money going viral actually makes, the support system behind him, and his advice for anyone starting out: pick one thing and do it for five years. 0:00 Cold Open1:06 Fresh Off Vegas: DJing Zouk at Resorts World3:21 Same Guy at the Courthouse and the Club4:58 Three Bar Exams and a Degree Before 196:20 100-Mile Ultramarathon and Hallucinating Trees10:22 Capitol Hill to Downtown McAllen12:32 "If You Could Be Any Animal?" — The First Viral Video15:06 Dropped From Law School, and Why It Helped17:24 The Story Behind the 956 Chain21:36 When Drake Followed Him: The 2023 Peak22:19 "Accomplishment-shment" and 150 Million Views25:57 Gut Feel vs. Data28:03 You Can't Win on the Internet31:04 160 Criminal Clients in Year One32:19 The Plan: Street Interviews to Law Firm36:46 Coachella Security and DJ School in Tulum39:19 The Jury Box: Free Shows for the Valley44:06 Dad's Doubts and Mom the "Momager"47:47 Do People Regret Being in the Videos?50:18 "Biggest Influencer in South Texas?"52:41 Why an Approachable Lawyer Wins54:51 Headlining The Island and the Suit Gimmick58:40 Vegas Residencies, XS, and the Chainsmokers1:03:35 Losing Followers on Purpose1:05:50 The Truth About Making Money Online1:08:25 How Growth Used to Work: Repost Pages and Hashtags1:11:14 The Gift1:14:26 Advice: Pick One Thing and Do It for 5 Years1:16:33 Christina and the Support System1:21:18 What's Next: The Final Verdict at Citrus Live1:23:30 Shaq the DJ and Wrap-Up About Steven Franz: Attorney and founder of Franz Law Group in McAllen, Texas, handling criminal defense and personal injury. The Franchisee Who Taught Himself to Code

Bob invited Alex Velasco back for a franchising update. Instead he found out Alex had quietly taught himself to code and built a proprietary AI platform — 6 provisional patents, an official Garmin partnership, read/write access to Toast, and zero outside capital. "Do I really need outside capital to accomplish what I wanna do?" He got off LinkedIn, went heads down, and built it himself. #LifeCurrency #RestaurantBusiness #Franchising #RestaurantTech #AIForRestaurants #ForkToFit #RGV #FoodAndPeople Life Currency sits down with Alex Velasco, co-founder of Fork To Fit, for his second appearance — 15 months after the first. Alex walks through building ForkPulse from scratch starting last October: food logging, biometrics, telehealth, supplements, and ordering in one closed loop, running on an in-house AI model rather than a wrapper on someone else's. He explains why he walked away from the private equity conversations he'd been courting, what it took to get read and write access out of Toast (a six-month fight and an ultimatum), and why he thinks most SaaS vendors serving restaurants should be nervous. Bob mirrors it with his own build — then demos it live, asking his business out loud how the McAllen Dairy Queens are performing. They get into the CAC problem most operators ignore, why Alex awards franchisees instead of selling to them, the commissary model behind the G5 Restaurant Group deal, and the goal he's actually chasing: $5 meals and 100 million lives fed by 2030. Plus the emo band ambush and a live walkthrough of the app. 0:00 Cold Open: A Secret App0:38 15 Months Later, He's Back1:03 Meet ForkPulse: Garmin, Toast, and In-House AI3:16 Six Patents and a Closed Loop4:29 "How's Corporate Pushing AI?" — "They're Not."6:04 Imposter Syndrome and Hiring People Who Care Too Much8:30 Zero Outside Capital: Why He Walked Away From VC10:04 The CAC Problem Every Restaurant Ignores17:56 Selling What You Built For Yourself19:28 50 Restaurants, 950 Employees, 100% Turnover28:52 LIVE DEMO: Talking to Your Own Business30:33 The Toast Ultimatum33:00 Award Franchisees, Don't Sell Them39:51 $5 Meals and 100 Million Lives by 203041:04 G5 Restaurant Group and the Hub-and-Spoke Model47:54 The Telehealth Play54:04 AI Will Reform Industry by Industry1:00:39 Surprise: His Emo Band on Video1:02:03 The Gift He Sat On For 15 Months1:11:06 Band Kid to Dentist to Bodybuilder to Founder1:14:26 App Demo: Macros, Coach, Order in Four Taps1:18:05 Why SaaS Vendors Should Be Scared About Alex Velasco: Co-founder of Fork To Fit and The Grill, built with no outside capital alongside his partner Jose. Terrence Howard on Currency, Craft, and the Linchpin

We are the only creatures in the known universe that uses an indirect form of exchange." That's how Terrence Howard opens this conversation and for a podcast called Life Currency, it's the perfect place to start. The Oscar-nominated actor sits down with Bob Lozano for a wide-ranging conversation about currency as flow rather than debt, why he spent his early acting career believing "being the better liar was the way," the five generations who lived in his childhood home, and the geometry project he says he's building in the Rio Grande Valley. #TerrenceHoward #LifeCurrencyPodcast #RGV #Brownsville #Philosophy #Acting Life Currency sits down with Terrence Howard for the first celebrity episode of the show. Terrence opens on currency itself, that money is an indirect form of exchange, and "current" means flow, not accumulation. He talks about the garden where he does his thinking, what Deepak Chopra taught him about dissolving ego, and the turn in his career when he stopped performing and started telling the truth: "When I first came into acting, I thought that being the better liar was the way." He shares what may be the most revealing line he's ever said about himself — "I feel like a fraud as an actor because I'm always doing an impersonation of Terrence Howard" and the memory of his great-great-grandmother's warped applesauce pan that still transports him every time he smells cinnamon. He and Bob also trade notes on the restaurant business through Terrence's wife, a chef whose sold restaurants still hold four-and-a-half stars twelve years later. 0:00 Cold Open: Currency as Indirect Exchange3:11 Currency as Current — Flow vs. Dollars6:20 The Garden Where He Thinks7:41 Deepak Chopra and Dissolving the Self9:29 "I Thought Being the Better Liar Was the Way"12:02 Seeing God in the People You Meet19:07 Men, Women, and the Praying Mantis Marriage24:31 Influences: Alan Watts, Walter Russell, Gibran, Coelho30:10 Geometry, Hydrogen, and the Linchpin34:56 "So It's a Drone?" — The Linchpin Explained40:28 On 432 Hz44:30 His Wife the Chef & Bob on Kitchen Life50:14 Cinnamon, Five Generations, and Memory54:40 Neuroplasticity and Being the Outsider1:01:20 Gifts and Closing Thoughts About Terrence Howard: Academy Award-nominated actor known for Hustle & Flow, Crash, Iron Man, and Empire.
