October 11, 2026 - God’s Command Over the Storms of Life
Luke: To the Least, the Last, & the Lost - Luke 8.22-25
Jobey McGinty
Most of us can accept that Jesus calms storms. What is harder to face is the possibility that the storm itself did not arrive outside His control. In Luke 8:22-25, the disciples panic as the waves close in, but Jesus reveals that the One who rebukes the wind is also Lord over every moment of danger. Scripture presses this even further in Psalm 135:6-7 and Lamentations 3:37-38. Nothing comes into our lives apart from His command. That truth can feel unsettling until we see the heart of Christ. Jesus does not stand far from suffering, He entered it Himself. At the cross, God used even suffering and evil for redemption. Bring your fears, losses, and unanswered questions to the Savior who rules the storm and stays with us in it.

Luke: To the Least, the Last, & the Lost - Luke 8.19-21
Jobey McGinty
It’s easy to believe we’re “good with God” because of our background, family, church history, or moral effort. That’s the tension underneath Jesus’ startling words in Luke 8:19-21 when He says His true family is made up of “those who hear the word of God and do it.” For many in Israel, ancestry felt like a guarantee. But Jesus cuts through that false security. No one belongs to God’s family by bloodline, tradition, or religious performance. The good news is that Jesus doesn’t shut outsiders out. He brings sinners in. Children of God are born not by human will, but by God.

September 27, 2026 - God Gave Shepherds
Ephesians 4:12-16
Jobey McGinty
We often drift toward two unhealthy instincts with church leadership. Some expect pastors to do all the ministry while everyone else watches. Others have seen leadership abused and assume authority in the church can only lead to control or disappointment. But Ephesians 4:12-16 shows something better. Christ, the true Shepherd, gives leaders to equip His people so the whole body grows together in truth, love, and maturity. Pastors are not CEOs or owners of the church. They are stewards under Jesus, called to teach the Word, care for souls, and help every believer take part in the work of ministry.
