Ep 26: Melanin Myths, The Niagara Movement & The One-Year Rule
Welcome to Life More Abundantly, where we talk Black health like we talk everything else... real, out loud, and with love!
This week, Dr. Eboni and Dr. Tynisha dive into a packed agenda. We’re unpacking the recent Patriot Front march in our nation’s capital and the viral photo that spoke a thousand words. We also take a trip back in time to honor the Niagara Movement of 1905, exploring how W.E.B. Du Bois and William Monroe Trotter laid the groundwork for the NAACP.
For our Community Calendar, we are recognizing UV Awareness Month. It is time to bust the dangerous myth that darker skin doesn't need sun protection. We break down the signs of melanoma in Black skin, the best sunscreens to avoid that "ashy" white cast, and how to perform your own C.U.B.E.D. skin check.
Finally, we pour The Herbal Tea on Jussie Smollett and Karamo Brown’s new romance, debating the “one-year rule” for taking relationships public, and send our prayers to Danny Glover following his Alzheimer's announcement.
In This Episode:
(00:59) News & Culture: Reacting to the Patriot Front’s masked march in Washington, D.C.
(09:27) Black History: The roots of the NAACP and the 1905 Niagara Movement's demand for civil rights.

Ep 25: Hypermasculinity, Ego, and Men's Health
This week, Dr. Eboni Haynes and Dr. Tynisha Camae Drennon are joined by special guest Akil Bektemba, founder and CEO of Vanguard Consulting Group, LLC.
In this heavy-hitting episode, we tackle the tragic hazing death of 18-year-old Savannah Jones at Wilberforce University and discuss the urgent need for campus accountability. We also celebrate National Crown Day (July 3rd) and discuss the ongoing fight against hair discrimination via the CROWN Act.
For our main topic, Akil gives us an honest, firsthand look into the intersection of hypermasculinity, ego, and men's health. We break down the real reasons Black men avoid the doctor - from medical mistrust to the pressure of playing "Superman" - and Akil shares the wake-up call that led to his emergency gallbladder removal. Plus, he gives the ladies some invaluable advice on how to encourage the men in our lives to prioritize their well-being.
Finally, we sip on some "Herbal Tea": Was Oprah Winfrey out of line for sharing a sensitive story about the late Whitney Houston? And how is Tia Mowry using neuroplasticity and manifestation to find safe, healthy love post-divorce?

Ep 24: Taking Off the Cape: Black Men's Mental Health
Hey fam! Welcome back to Life More Abundantly, where we talk Black health like we talk everything else: real, out loud, and with love.
This week, Dr. Eboni and Dr. Tynisha are unpacking a packed week in the culture. We kick things off by celebrating the incredible opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. Then, we dive into the history books to reflect on Juneteenth, the rescue of Anthony Burns, and Muhammad Ali's monumental Supreme Court victory.
For our Community Calendar, in honor of Men's Health Month, we are joined by the brilliant Dr. Kristopher Halsey. Dr. Halsey breaks down the silent mental health crisis among men and gives us the ultimate "S.E.L.F." care framework to help the men in our lives take off their superhero capes and truly heal.
Finally, we’re pouring the Herbal Tea: Is Jay-Z's new Target deal a brilliant business move or a cultural misstep? Plus, we debate Nia Long’s viral standards for her sons' inheritance.
