   32. The Human Behind Perfect Stranger aka Yuli Fershtat

In this episode, Jess aka Galactic Rainbow sits down with one of the most beloved and influential artists in the global psychedelic scene; Perfect Stranger, also known as Yuli Fershtat. With a career spanning nearly three decades, Yuli has carved out his own unmistakable sound. A playful, groovy, progressive fusion bridging techno, trance, tribal psychedelia, and deep emotional storytelling. Since launching Perfect Stranger in 2005, he has become a pioneer, a genre-shaper, and a deeply respected figure across dancefloors worldwide. But in this conversation, recorded from a dusty clubhouse at Interstellar Groove Festival in Victoria, Australia, we go far beyond the music. Yuli opens up about the human behind Perfect Stranger, the intention behind his sets, his philosophy of “active meditation” on the dance floor, his creative journey from classical roots to psychedelic trance, and the deeply personal story of how music became part of his healing. We dive into: ✨ How the dance floor can become a powerful space for emotional release, unity, and collective energy ✨ The random-yet-divinely-timed events that launched his music career ✨ His philosophy on acceptance, surrender, life’s chaos, and why resistance drains us ✨ His early influences, backpacking years in Australia, and the role his friends played in igniting his journey ✨ What really happens inside him when he performs ✨ Why authenticity is EVERYTHING in art ✨ How he maintains his wellbeing while touring the world (and why alcohol is no longer part of the picture) ✨ The story behind iconic tracks like “Six Feet Under” and “Manifestation” ✨ His experiences as both BLT and Perfect Stranger ✨ And why he believes Aussies are the undefeated champions of taking the piss This episode is raw, soulful, funny, wise, and full of transmissions you didn’t know you needed to hear. If you love dance floors, psychedelic culture, emotional self-awareness, or the stories behind the artists who shape our scene… you cannot miss this one.
