Welcome to Life with the Cors.
We're a husband and wife talking through the things we've been thinking about that week. Sometimes it's marriage, faith, parenting, relationships, or culture. Other times it's a current event, a video we came across, or a random thought that turns into a conversation.
In this episode, we continue sharing our marriage story and the painful events that eventually led to our separation. As we entered our second year of marriage, the dishonesty, emotional neglect, constant criticism, and broken trust had taken a devastating toll. Jamie shares what it felt like to lose herself in our marriage, the moment she realized she desperately needed help, and the difficult decision to leave our home.
We also talk about Jonathan being confronted with the reality of how he had treated Jamie, the conversation that became a wake-up call, and what it was like to face the possibility of our marriage ending. Looking back, we reflect on the damage we caused, the people who stepped in to help us, and how God's grace has continued to shape our journey toward healing, forgiveness, and restoration.

Our Marriage Was Falling Apart From Day One
In this episode, we continue sharing our marriage story, starting with our wedding day and the painful reality of our first year together. What was supposed to be the beginning of a beautiful life together quickly became a season of loneliness, unmet expectations, emotional distance, and heartbreak.
We open up about what happened on our wedding night, Jonathan's hidden struggle with pornography, the lies that broke Jamie's trust, and the devastating moment the truth finally came out. We also share how our marriage affected our mental health, why we suffered in silence for so long, and the beginning of our journey toward honesty, healing, and restoration.

I Almost Ended Our Relationship Before We Got Married
In this episode, we’re going back to the beginning of our story and sharing how we met, became friends, started dating, and eventually got engaged. What began as a fun and unexpected relationship moved quickly, and from the outside, everyone seemed to think we were perfect together.
But behind the excitement, there were doubts, red flags, and pressure to keep moving toward marriage. We talk about why Jamie almost ended the relationship, the outside expectations that made it difficult to trust what she was feeling, and what we see differently now looking back at the beginning of our marriage story.

Becoming a Mom Changed More Than I Expected
n this episode, we talk about how becoming parents has changed us individually and in our marriage. Jamie shares what it's been like to love being a stay-at-home mom while also feeling like parts of herself have been put on pause, carrying the mental load of motherhood, and longing to feel seen, loved, and appreciated in this season.
We also talk about the sacrifices we've each made since becoming parents, how differently we experience those sacrifices, and the tension between structure and spontaneity in our family. Ultimately, we get into what we're both quietly longing for from each other and how we're learning to create more space to be known, vulnerable, and connected in marriage.

We Don't Have Friends of the Opposite Sex
In this episode, we talk about why we don't have close friendships with the opposite sex outside of our marriage. We unpack the boundaries we've chosen, whether attraction even matters, and why we believe emotional intimacy with someone else can become dangerous even when nothing inappropriate has happened.
We also talk about trust, jealousy, flirting, when your spouse should be able to say they're uncomfortable with someone, and where the line is between protecting your marriage and controlling your spouse. Along the way, we wrestle with when it's appropriate to bring other people into problems within your marriage and why we don't completely agree on who should be allowed into those conversations.

I Don't Hunger for God Like I Used To
In this episode, we have an honest conversation about something we've both been wrestling with: wanting to hunger for God again. We talk about spiritual dryness, the seasons when desperation made God feel close, and what faith looks like when that desperation isn't there anymore.
We also wrestle with how differently we experience God, whether spiritual disciplines can become performance, our complicated relationship with church, and the difference between pursuing an emotional experience and pursuing God Himself. Ultimately, we're asking what it looks like to stop trying to manufacture faith and simply respond to God one day at a time.

I Didn't Know How Selfish I Was
In this episode, we reflect on nine years of marriage and the hardest things it's forced us to learn about ourselves. For Jonathan, that meant confronting selfishness and blind spots he didn't know he had. For Jamie, it meant facing deep insecurity, people pleasing, comparison, and how much of her identity she had placed in other people's hands.
We talk about why marriage can expose what's already inside us, learning to own the parts of ourselves we'd rather avoid, and finding people who can meet our brokenness with grace instead of shame. We also unpack what we're learning about vulnerability, confession, healing, and becoming safer people for each other.

Marriage Was Never Fun
In this episode, we talk about something that has been largely missing from our marriage: fun. After years of hard seasons, survival mode, and taking marriage so seriously, we realized we haven't created much space to simply be playful and enjoy each other.
We unpack why being silly can feel vulnerable, how differently we each define fun, and the parts of ourselves we've held back from each other. We also talk about becoming parents, learning to be more carefree, and what it might look like to bring more playfulness, joy, and lightheartedness into our marriage.

I Struggle to Say Sorry in Marriage
In this episode, we have an honest conversation about apologizing, forgiveness, and why saying "I'm sorry" has been one of the hardest parts of our marriage. We came into marriage with completely different experiences, and neither of us realized how much they would shape the way we handled conflict.
We talk about pride, people pleasing, making amends, healing without receiving an apology, and what we're learning about forgiveness. This isn't a conversation about getting it right. It's about learning to take ownership, extend grace, and let God change our hearts one step at a time.

We Didn't Feel Safe in Our Marriage
In this episode, we have one of the most honest conversations we've ever had about our marriage. We talk about the realization that after nearly nine years together, we still didn't feel emotionally safe with each other, and how that affected everything from conflict to vulnerability to feeling like a team.
We unpack expectations, shame, trust, counseling, and what it actually takes to rebuild safety after years of unintentionally hurting each other. This isn't a conversation about having all the answers. It's about finally being honest enough to ask the right questions.

I Was Loving My Wife the Wrong Way
In this episode, we talk about one of the biggest lessons we've learned in nearly nine years of marriage. For years, Jonathan thought love was built through big romantic gestures. Jamie saw it completely differently. It wasn't the anniversaries that mattered most. It was the random Tuesday moments in between.
We also talk about becoming parents, discovering our real love languages, why we think daily rhythms matter more than perfect date nights, and what we're hoping to build through this podcast. This is the beginning of Life with The Cors, and we're glad you're here.
