We rarely talk about them unless we want to rant. It’s one of those episodes. SCSU has a good series vs Michigan Tech, Alaska snags one against BC, Wisco gets a big sweep vs Mankato, and much more! Plus we have a winner for the Ice-breaker tourney! We have more great non-conference matchups this week from Dame vs Western to an in-state battle with UMD and Minnesota. Week 2 of Light the Lamp is here! After a wild opening weekend of college hockey, we’re breaking down the biggest storylines, early-season surprises, and what we’re watching heading into another loaded weekend.
Is Quinnipiac for real after an explosive start to the season? How concerned should Minnesota fans be after a tough series against Michigan Tech? We also discuss Colorado College’s big sweep of UMass, Maryville’s historic start, early fantasy hockey takeaways, and some of the new NCAA rule changes that could shake things up this season.
Plus, we’re looking ahead and making our picks for some of the biggest matchups of Week 3. Can we get an early edge in the standings, or will our picks leave us out in the cold? The 2026-27 season is finally here, and we’re kicking things off by breaking down the first weekend of games and making our picks.
There are some big matchups right out of the gate. Can Wisconsin start strong against Robert Morris? Will Michigan take care of Bowling Green? And what happens when Boston University heads to Alaska?
We’re also looking at UMass at Colorado College, Miami at Northern Michigan, and Minnesota at Michigan Tech as we make our picks for opening weekend.
