Listen, Honey! Spring Has Sprung and Things Are A Brewin’

Listen, Honey! We’re back at the house this week and are workin’ honey! Lucy and I have been tending to the baby chicks which are getting their adult feathers in, we’ve put up some birdfeeders because Momma will feed them birds, now. We’ve been sitting in our camper chairs in the garage with our binoculars learning bird species. One thing I have learned is that Blue Jay females make their husbands go get their food, honey! Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. These things are wilder than hell.  Now, things were off for a few weeks at the house. There was just a weird vibe going on so I felt the need to sage the house. My Granny was part Cherokee and she believed in that as much as prayin’. And the next two days after, I saw signs that it worked. You’ll have to watch the episode to hear the proof! We’ve also been getting the garden going. And eating popsicles. I’ve also been reflecting on my motherhood journey and am so grateful God gave me Lucy. Motherhood has made me a better woman, it’s brought out my feminine side, and given me permission to just be a girly girl with my baby.  On that note, Mother’s Day is coming up, y’all. Do something nice for yourself and have a happy and wonderful Mother’s Day. I’ve got a lot going on right now behind the scenes so I’m going to take a couple weeks off of the regular podcast schedule, but you can expect us back May 22nd with an interview with singer-songwriter Hunter Flynn.  But enjoy this episode of the podcast, honey!  I’ll see you soon right back here and, of course, somewhere this summer on my Hillbilly Tour Bus! The camper is almost ready to hit the road. I’m gonna need it, too. You can find me this summer at Laurel Cove June 11-12. Then the next day (June 13) I’m heading to Wise, Va., for the Kentucky-Virginia District Fair. July 10-11 I’ll be in Ashland at the Rock the Country event. Then I’ll be at the Master Musicians Festival in Somerset, Ky., the next weekend. One of my favorite events is the Manchester Music Fest September 3-5. Then, in October, I’ll be in Pikeville, Ky., for the Mountain Grrl Experience. Y’all are gonna have to come see the Listen, Honey Hillbilly Tour Bus! Of course, I’m still holding steady on my weight loss journey with Amble. I’ve lost 80 pounds! Sign up and join the journey at joinamble.com.  Listen, Honey! Listen, Honey! Kentucky Singer-Songwriter Zach Day Returns Home to Take Over The World

Listen, Honey! Y’all know that we Kentuckians support our own more so than a lot of communities do. So when McCreary County, Kentucky native Zach Day was featured on season 19 of The Voice in 2020, we were glued to our sets. He was chosen immediately by judge John Legend, then by Kelly Clarkson and spent some individual coaching time with Legend before being eliminated. But eliminated is not in Zach’s vocabulary. He moved to Nashville, then later to Los Angeles, and has been performing all over the world. I’m not kidding y’all! He’s performed in England, Poland and all over the United States.  Zach just recently moved back to Stearns, Kentucky, right next to his grandparents (as we do) and found out as he was moving home that he landed a record deal! He’ll be spending most of this coming summer working on songs and will hopefully be set to take over the world with his new album in 2027. Zach and I talked about the common thread for a lot of artists (and people from the LGBTQ community) in Eastern Kentucky: He felt like he had to leave to find success. But as time has changed and he’s gotten older, he realized he needed to return home to find himself.  This was so much fun and I’m so excited for Zach. I’m glad y’all get to see and hear how wonderful he truly is.  Find and follow Zach Day on TikTok and Instagram. Oh, and don’t forget Amble, y’all! You know I’ve lost 80 pounds. They’re helping me on my weight loss journey and y’all know I’ve lost a bunch of weight, right? Sign up and join the journey at joinamble.com.  Big shout-out and thanks to the team at Kentucky Podcast Studio in Georgetown, Ky., for the space and production help.  Listen, Honey! is produced by Jason Falls at Falls+Partners.
