Title: OCT 7: The War Against Hamas Through the Eyes of an Israeli Commando Officer Author: Capt. Elkana (Kuno) Cohen Narrator: Neil Shah Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 40 minutes Release date: November 12, 2024 Genres: Military Publisher's Summary: On the morning of October 7, 2023, Israelis awoke to a harrowing reality. Not only were hundreds of rockets being launched from Gaza into Israeli population centers, but the security border had also been breached by several thousand Hamas terrorists. Carnage, not seen since the Second World War, ensued. Elkana Cohen, Captain of an Elite Commando Unit was called, along with thousands of other reservists, to prepare for war. One that will have to ensure nothing less than Israel's survival. In notebooks he found on the ground in the streets of Gaza, Cohen began writing a diary. Every day, he candidly documented the sights of the war. From an honest, precise, and fluid first-person perspective, Cohen presents the feeling and story of the war from the eyes of the heroes who were there: the dust, the sweat, the brotherhood, the longing, and the awful smell of death and destruction. Cohen's writing poignantly describes his relationships with his fellow comrades, the mass arrests of terrorists, the homes of Hamas members, the story of the fallen soldiers, and the desperate hope to bring the hundreds of Israeli hostages home. OCT 7 is not only the story of one Israeli officer, but it is also the narrative of an entire nation. A nation that stepped up without a moment's hesitation to face an existential challenge with a sense of purpose and mission.

The Melting Point: High Command and War in the 21st Century by Gen. Kenneth F. Mckenzie Jr. Usmc (ret).

Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/805205 (https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/805205) to listen full audiobooks. Title: The Melting Point: High Command and War in the 21st Century Author: Gen. Kenneth F. Mckenzie Jr. Usmc (ret). Narrator: Charles Constant Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 12 hours 5 minutes Release date: October 29, 2024 Genres: Military Publisher's Summary: General Frank McKenzie oversaw some of the most important—and controversial operations in modern US military history. The Melting Point has three themes. The first one is the importance of the primacy of civilian control of the military. It has become widely perceived that this control has been eroded over the years. General McKenzie doesn't believe that to be the case, arguing that the civ-mil relationship isn't perfect, but it doesn't have to be. It is, however, more durable than many believe, and is supported and embraced by the military. The second theme is the uniqueness of being a combatant commander. Combatant commanders participate in the development of policy, as junior partners. They are also responsible for the execution of policy—very different than the role of a service chief, or the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. None of these officers are in the chain of command, and they have no ultimate, mortal responsibility or authority for execution. Only the combatant commander stands astride the boundary of decision-making and execution. Finally, the third theme that McKenzie argues is that leaders matter, and the decisions they make have a profound effect on what happens on the battlefield. McKenzie provides an honest assessment of his time in command—describing decisions that were sound, as well as some outcomes he wishes were different.
