Welcome to LITE's (Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence, University of Leeds) home for all things podcasts. Here, you'll find episodes of LITE Bites, where LITE fellows share experiences, findings, and practical implications from their pedagogic research projects - and related mini-series'. This is also the home for 'En-LITE-ning Dialogues', occasional in-depth discussions at the intersection of cutting-edge educational topics. Our podcasts are recorded at HELIX, (https://digitaleducation.leeds.ac.uk/helix/) the University's learning innovation hub for students, staff, and the local community.

Supporting postgraduate researchers through employability and partnership

In this episode of LITE Bites for Pedagogical Impact and Transfer (previously called Educational Gain and Student Futures), Bee Bond is joined by Steve Carter (Careers Consultant, University of Leeds) and Durdona Karimova (Postgraduate Researcher and PGR Employability Intern) to explore the unique employability needs of postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and the impact of pedagogical research in shaping support for this often-overlooked community. The conversation highlights how pedagogical research can lead to meaningful change beyond the lifespan of a funded project, influencing careers practice, staff development, employer engagement, and institutional approaches to supporting doctoral researchers. This episode will be of interest to colleagues working in student futures, employability, doctoral education, students-as-partners initiatives, and pedagogical research. Working with student partners in pedagogical research: How can student voices meaningfully shape educational change?

What does it really mean to work with students rather than on students in pedagogical research? In this special episode, the LITE Students as Partners team is joined by renowned partnership scholar Professor Alison Cook-Sather to explore what happens when we move from conducting research on students to conducting research with students. Together, we discuss partnership, inclusion, epistemic authority, and how student voices can meaningfully shape pedagogical research and educational change. Featuring Tao Jiang, Tanya Hathaway, Bianca Joseph Vadukoot, and Lucy Hemingway, this thought-provoking conversation offers inspiration for anyone interested in creating more collaborative, equitable and transformative approaches to teaching and learning. Listen to discover how partnership is not simply a method, but "a way of being" that can transform scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). Whether you are new to Students as Partners work or looking to deepen your practice, this episode offers both inspiration and practical insights into how collaborative approaches can enrich SoTL, transform relationships between staff and students, and help create more responsive and inclusive learning for all.
