Radio Legend and television personality, EZ Street is executive producing a brand new digital show called LIVE FROM THE DISTRICT to share with the world the black excellence and greatness of the world's most powerful city -- Washington DC.
LIVE FROM THE DISTRICT will share some of the most thought-provoking, unique, and empowering stories of some intriguing people who call Washington DC home.
In this episode of Live from the Culture, EZ Street brings the panel together to debate one of the most visible conversations around public presentation: bonnets, do-rags, pajamas, and where—if anywhere—the line should be drawn.
The conversation moves from airports and college campuses to HBCU dress policies, first impressions, generational style, cultural appropriation, and respectability politics. Is wearing a bonnet outside simply a personal choice, or does how we show up affect how the world receives us? And when schools, businesses, or government officials set dress standards, when does etiquette become the policing of Blackness?
With humor, honesty, and a few unexpected confessions, the panel weighs comfort against presentation before arriving at a deeper question: What does your appearance communicate before you ever say a word?
Live from the Culture — where Black culture lives.
