The made-up rivalry between Pearl Jam and Nirvana that kind of got people a little bit, you know, talking about stuff that really didn't exist until somebody wanted to create headlines for it. So this was their way of finding their own niche. They wanted the REM route, as Jeff would say. And they want to get there gradually.
