   Non Charismatic in Orientation

In this episode Dewey and Dave dive into the church's doctrinal statement, focusing on its non-charismatic orientation. Building on their previous discussion of eternal security for believers, they explore what it means to approach faith and worship with a guarded posture affirming belief in the supernatural, including God's intervention, healing, and spiritual warfare, while emphasizing orderly, Bible-centered services that point solely to Jesus. Drawing from personal stories, including missionary experiences in India and heartfelt anecdotes about relationships and "words from God," they unpack the dangers of excesses in charismatic practices like speaking in tongues or prophecy, which can lead to confusion, power imbalances, or modern forms of Gnosticism. Using Scripture from 1 Corinthians 14, 1 John, Matthew 23, and more, they stress discernment through testing spirits, avoiding mediators other than Christ, and steering clear of distortions that add to, substitute, or disproportionate the Gospel. Whether charismatic or cessationist, listeners are invited to reflect on keeping Jesus at the center, fostering humility, community accountability, and transformative encounters with God's Word. Join Dewey and Dave for a thoughtful conversation on balancing supernatural faith with biblical authority in a broken world.

Eternal Security: Finding Assurance in Christ Alone

Pastors Dewey and Dave dive into the topic of eternal security and what it means to be a truly born-again believer. Drawing from their church’s statement of faith, they explore the biblical foundation of being "born again" to a living hope through Jesus’ resurrection, as described in 1 Peter. They address common questions and doubts about salvation, tackling misconceptions like "easy believism" and the pressure to prove one’s faith through performance. Through passages like John 6, 1 John, and Hebrews, they clarify that true security lies not in our efforts but in Christ’s finished work and God’s preserving grace. Whether you’re wrestling with assurance or seeking to deepen your faith, this conversation offers practical, gospel-centered encouragement to rest in Jesus as your only hope.

   Christian Holiness

In this episode, I take you into a class on Christian Holiness, where we explore how the church serves as a refuge for those seeking clarity in their faith. I dive into the confusion many people face about sanctification and holiness, emphasizing the importance of drawing close to God. I unpack the internal conflict we all feel—the struggle between our sinful desires and God’s desires—and show how the Holy Spirit leads and guides us through it. Together, we examine why understanding the gospel and our own sinfulness matters so much, and I encourage you to live out your true identity in Christ.
