The next year was Bobby Bland and little Junior Parker. And Elvis came both of these years. in an almost entirely segregated event, got a great deal of publicity for it, spent time with the performers, whom he looked up to enormously, and gave quotes not just to the black newspapers, but in 57 to Memphis' mainstream afternoon paper, The Press Cimeter, which showed his clear admiration, regard, and respect not just for the not just for the musicians, but for the whole culture.
