Epi 48: Fifty Episodes-We Say, If It Had Not Been the Lord
In this fiftieth gathering of Journey Up through the Psalms of Ascent, we reflect on Psalm 124 and the power of remembering how God has preserved us.
David leads the people in a shared testimony: “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side.” From danger and betrayal to deliverance and praise, this psalm reminds us to look back and name the ways God has protected, sustained, and brought us through.
We explore the importance of being specific in our gratitude. What did God prevent? What snare was broken? Where did He provide what was needed? Remembering these moments helps us recognize His faithfulness with greater clarity.
The image of a bird escaping from the snare of the fowler gives us a vivid picture of deliverance, including the dangers we may not have fully seen at the time.
We close with the declaration of Psalm 124: “Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” This episode invites us to speak our testimonies aloud, practice gratitude, and remember that the God who preserved David is still our help today.

Epi 47: We Wait For Mercy- Eyes Fixed on the Lord
In this episode of Journey Up through the Psalms of Ascent, we turn to Psalm 123 and the call to lift our eyes to God when life has humbled us.
The psalm speaks from a place of loss, weariness, and prolonged contempt. We explore how contempt can affect the way we see ourselves and why honest prayer gives us a place to bring that pain before God.
Psalm 123 invites us to fix our attention on the Lord who dwells in the heavens and to wait for His mercy with expectation. Not if He will respond, but until.
This episode includes reflection prompts to consider how contempt may have shaped us, practical encouragement to lift our eyes again, and a Selah moment of prayer asking God to replace the voices of contempt with His view of us and to fill us with His mercy.

Epi 46: I Was Glad When They Said To Me...
In this episode of Journey Up through the Psalms of Ascent, we reflect on Psalm 122: “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord.’”
The journey moves from distress, to lifting our eyes, to gladness. This joy begins before the pilgrim arrives because it comes from anticipating the presence of God.
We explore how drawing near to God is not only entering a physical place. Through the Holy Spirit, we are His temple, and His presence is available to us wherever we are.
