About Longevity Through Physical Activity: The 15-Minute Habit. Alexandra Kash, CPT
Welcome to my podcast.
I’m Alexandra Kash, BCS, CPT — Behavior Change Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer, and author of Longevity Through Physical Activity: The 15-Minute Habit and Muscle of Habit: Why Change Feels So Hard Even When You Know What to Do.
This podcast is structured around two seasons, each based on one of my books.
Season One expands on the science and ideas from Longevity Through Physical Activity: The 15-Minute Habit, exploring how movement enhances brain performance, strengthens the body, supports long-term vitality, and how just fifteen minutes of physical activity a day can make a meaningful difference.
Season Two is based on Muscle of Habit: Why Change Feels So Hard Even When You Know What to Do. It goes deeper into the psychology and science of behavior change — exploring why knowing what to do is often not enough, what makes habits so difficult to change, and the deeper behavioral factors that can influence weight gain and our ability to create lasting change.
Across both seasons, research is translated into practical, real-life understanding — connecting physical activity, behavior, habits, and longevity.
Why do we keep repeating habits we know aren’t helping us?
Weight and eating behavior are shaped by far more than hunger or willpower. Friends, social environments, stress, emotional needs, stigma, and deeply learned routines can quietly influence what, when, and why we eat.
This discussion explores the hidden architecture of our habits — from the cue-routine-reward loop to emotional and night eating — and what it actually takes to interrupt patterns that have become automatic.

The Real Reasons We Gain Weight
If losing weight is as simple as burning more calories than you consume, why is it so hard for so many people?
Because weight is rarely just about food.
In this episode, we go beyond calories and willpower to uncover what may actually be driving the struggle: stress, sleep, self-esteem, body image, emotional eating, family patterns, social pressure, and the environment around us.
Why do we eat when we’re not hungry? Why can knowing exactly what to do still fail to change what we do? And why do so many people lose weight only to find themselves fighting the same battle again?

This episode explores the psychology behind weight — and why lasting change begins with understanding what is really shaping your behavior.

Pain Is Not the Problem — It’s the Signal
Most people try to silence pain.
A pill. Then another one. Stronger if needed.
But pain is not random — it’s a signal.
Often, it’s the result of how the body adapted to stress, injury, or lack of movement over time. And instead of restoring function, we just try to suppress the symptom.
In this conversation, we look at why pain becomes chronic — and what actually helps break the cycle.
Not by masking it, but by teaching the body to move and recover properly.

Because the goal is not just less pain —
but a body that no longer returns to it.
