[…] This is a person... with feral qualities that may have lost their personhood, depending on how you, in the fiction, you play on a werewolf. And Tolkien tends to be very vague in his use of werewolves. In this case, if I recall correctly, they were more like uplifted and corrupted wolves that take on a more human form rather than a human who is transformed into a wolf. So you have that element, which is a little bit weird. But even that, in its own way, is kind of messed up. Like if you give this dangerous creature what seems like more humanity, it becomes even more dangerous.
