[…] I remember someone once saying that it felt like going to like a local neighborhood pub. Did you have that feeling too when you broadcast games from there? Well, there was a writer, a columnist at the Baltimore Sun named Dan Rodericks, who also later had a talk show on the station that carried the games, WBAL. And when the Orioles were about to leave Memorial Stadium and move to their beautiful new ballpark downtown, Camden Yards, he wrote an essay that he delivered on the radio. And he quoted some philosopher who had written something about neighborhood taverns, that every neighborhood, every community needed what the philosopher called that great good place to gather the sense of community, rubbing elbows with good friends, becoming good friends, a place for people to just get together.
