Raised in the "Center of Everything" at the tail end of the Boomer era, Songwriter Laura Lisbeth, her sister, Mony and their friends share their mid-world experiences and opinions.
DOLLY RULES! We Learn Not to Shower In a Thunderstorm; Prince Harry and Meghan Move Back to England (so what, who cares?); Return of the Bats
Are we too blase' about lightning? Growing up out on the wide open prairie, lighting was a real thing. Laura & Mony review all of the warnings about the dangers of lightning.
Laura feels it's time for Mony to get up to speed on the Harry & Meghan drama (a son of the King of England but not heir to the throne, and his wife). This leads ever so organically into a comparison Harry's upbringing vs that of Dolly Parton.
Dolly Parton was a true treasure. Mony and LL wander a few paces down memory lane.
Finally, lest you think you can let your guard down, beware, the bats are still with us: A woman in Michigan woke up with a bat in her mouth!

Do our pets know our thoughts? Do they feel our feelings? This episode’s special guest is Animal Communicator, Dale McCarthy, and to both of those questions, the answer is yes!
What’s it like to have someone communicate with your pet? Simone tells about her experience when Dale did a reading on her dog, Cheri.

Hit The Ground Running: This was the first album I recorded with Steve Phillips, of Rainmakers and Elders fame. Every time I revisit one of these songs, I am overwhelmed by the beautiful additions he made to my little songs. I remember him telling me after recording the guitar solo for Hey Man: "All of your songs are so sad." Thank you, Steve Phillips!

In Which the Sanctity of the Pod Lair is Breached By Guest Jason Beers; We Discuss His Imaginary Musical Peeps, Sasquatch Theory; and the Sad Tale of Jason's Gorilla Suit
Singer-Songwriter Laura Lisbeth and co-host Simone a.k.a. Mony welcome Kansas City Musician Jason Beers into the Pod Lair.
This episode spotlights Kansas City Musician Jason Beers. In addition to being a talented musician, Jason is the creator of an entire stable full of characters who, after being born in his head, live and perform under the benevolent umbrella of "Quilt" Records label. The "Quilt Records Family" is ever so slightly reminiscent of the good old SCTV Network and its fun, slightly unhinged characters.
But we don't stop there: we cover Sasquatch, Rollercoasters, Gorilla Suits and much more.

Laura Lisbeth claims that our body sends us messages but we don't listen.. Later, she and her sister Simone, aka Mony, are contemplating shame and the way it can make us care too much. We really want to not care so much. Laura declares that she will no longer be shamed. Their journey takes them to the days of Catholic School and their experiences with the nuns.
Mony does a great impression of Fred Armisen's "Joy Behar" and muses about the way we censor ourselves sometimes, instead of trying out new creative things.
