   Abby Ballin

This week on Lox of Laughs, Ashley sits down with comedian, photographer, and comedy producer Abby Ballin for a conversation that goes exactly where you'd expect an Ashley conversation to go—which is absolutely everywhere. Abby talks about getting her start in stand-up, producing comedy shows throughout South Florida, what separates a great comedy host from a bad one, and why confidence matters when you're trying out new material. They also get into photography, headshots, Botox, Facetune, and the very real danger of editing your photos so much that you barely recognize yourself anymore. And then, because this is Lox of Laughs, things go completely off the rails. We're talking pregnancy constipation, diarrhea as emotional therapy, childhood enemas, questionable eating habits, soup, cilantro, late-night burritos, and enough unexpected tangents to make you completely forget where the conversation started. It's comedy, food, photography, oversharing, and two New Yorkers bouncing from topic to topic until Ashley finally calls the episode because she's “too pregnant to keep going.” Grab a nosh and settle in—this one gets weird.

   Mary Kate Carr

Ashley welcomes fellow comedian and soon-to-be mom Mary Kate Carr for a hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt conversation about pregnancy, motherhood, comedy, fertility journeys, baby registries, and the reality of preparing for life with a newborn. The two comics swap stories about morning sickness, anatomy scans, nursery planning, and the emotional rollercoaster of trying to conceive, while also sharing plenty of laughs about diaper debates, pregnancy brain, and the absurd amount of baby gear parents are expected to buy. Along the way, they dive into their experiences balancing comedy careers with motherhood, discuss what life might look like after the baby arrives, and, because they simply can't help themselves, take a detour into a passionate breakdown of all the latest Bravo and Summer House drama. It's a funny, honest, and relatable conversation about navigating one of life's biggest transitions while still trying to keep your sense of humor intact.

   Randy Zelin

n this intense and unexpectedly hilarious episode of Lox of Laughs, Ashley Arpel Steinback sits down with New York attorney Randy Zelin to unpack the controversy surrounding Ashley being removed from a South Florida comedy show after publicly expressing pro-Israel views online. What starts as a conversation about social media comments and stand-up bookings quickly turns into a deep dive into free speech, cancel culture, religion in entertainment, and whether people today have lost the ability to disagree without making things personal. Ashley brings the receipts, Randy brings the legal breakdowns, and somehow the episode still manages to include Capri Sun cravings, Manhattan bagels, jury strategy, and a running gag about Iron Dome Coffee discounts. The episode balances serious discussion with the signature Lox of Laughs energy, as Ashley argues that disagreement should not automatically destroy friendships, working relationships, or opportunities. Meanwhile, Randy explains how social media, public perception, and employment law collide in today’s culture—and why “we don’t align” may be the most lawyer-adjacent phrase ever written by ChatGPT. By the end, the conversation becomes less about one comedy show and more about modern society’s struggle to listen, learn, and coexist with people who think differently. Also: Randy may or may not have stolen the show with his “missing two chromosomes” line and perfectly timed callback jokes.
