How Getting to Know Your Employees Builds Loyalty with Guest Jennifer McGee

Ever wonder how leaders build lasting loyalty at work? In this episode of Loyalty by Leadership, Darrell Moon talks with Jennifer McGee, Vice President of Strategic Development at Hard Rock Infrastructure and host of The O&G Spot, about how leaders built her trust by having her back, believing in her potential, and taking a genuine interest in her life beyond the office. Jennifer describes loyalty as something built through empathy, honesty, and thoughtful follow-through, and by consistently showing people you actually know and support them. She talks about getting to know employees personally, supporting them through family and career changes, and coaching people through challenges instead of simply taking away their responsibilities. Jennifer shares the story of receiving a gift monogrammed in her favorite color, a small but perfect example of a leader who’d taken the time to really know her. Why Belief Is the Real Leadership Advantage With Scott Capelin

What creates lasting loyalty? In this episode of Loyalty by Leadership, Darrell Moon talks with Scott Capelin, founder and CEO of InLIFE Wellness Pilates studios, about the leadership moments that build lasting loyalty. Scott shares multiple examples of how the feeling that a leader sees you, supports you, and believes in you is paramount to developing loyalty among employees and players on a team. One example is of a famous coach in Australia who was known to take an interest in his players’ personal lives, like asking about their grandparents. Scott believes that coaching, not just managing, helps to unlock someone’s potential. He explains the difference between coaching and consulting, why accountability drives real behavior change, and also why lasting change starts with understanding the deeper “why” behind a person’s goals, not just the goal itself. A great example of loyalty and culture is when Scott describes how his franchise community creates real paths for growth by helping studio members become instructors, and instructors become franchise owners themselves. This is another example of what it looks like when a leader invests in people’s personal dreams and helps them become a reality. In this episode, you’ll learn: • Why a coach’s belief in someone can unlock their potential • The difference between coaching and consulting • Why understanding the “why” behind a goal builds deeper commitment • How supporting employees’ personal dreams can build loyalty • Why making people feel seen, heard, and valued drives engagement • How Scott turns studio members into instructors and franchise owners Chapters: (01:04) Welcome and Scott’s background (02:14) Examples of loyalty in sports, business, and family (04:56) How a coach’s belief can unlock potential (07:33) The mentor who made time, and lessons in leadership (10:20) Coaching, behavior change, and accountability (12:12) Coaching versus consulting (14:06) Why change starts with the thought that there’s a better way (15:10) Finding the deeper “why” behind a goal (16:01) How supporting employees’ personal dreams can build loyalty (18:28) Caring for people and creating a supportive workplace (19:28) Making people feel seen, heard, and valued (21:30) Fair pay, recognition, and employee engagement (23:05) Building a win-win team culture (23:38) Lessons on leadership drawn from outside the fitness world (25:01) Scott’s business and how to reach him (26:19) Inside the Pilates franchise model (28:31) Who can become a franchise owner?
