Hate Crime | The Murder of Angie Zapata
Episode 59: Angie Zapata was an 18-year-old transgender woman living in Greeley, Colorado. In July 2008, Zapata met 31-year-old Allen Ray Andrade through an online social networking site. The two went on a date and spent nearly three days together at Zapata's apartment. After finding photographs that made him question her sex, Andrade confronted Zapata and beat her with his fists and a fire extinguisher, continuing the assault even after realizing she was still breathing. He stole her car and fled the scene. Her sister discovered her body on July 17, 2008.
