Despite recent technical hiccups and a brief illness, we're back and better than ever, ready to bring some spine-tingling stories!
Brace yourself for a chilling exploration of the Japanese ghost Teke Teke, a vengeful spirit with a heart-wrenching backstory rooted in post-World War II Japan. We'll uncover the tragic tale of a woman who, after suffering a horrific assault, met a gruesome fate on the railroad tracks. This episode delves deep into the cultural stigma surrounding S-A victims in Japanese society, offering a poignant and eerie portrayal of Teke Teke, often depicted as a young woman or schoolgirl missing her lower half.
Join us as we unravel the haunting details of Teke Teke's encounters with the living, from its terrifying scythe to the chilling questions it poses. We'll share a spine-tingling Reddit encounter from a user named Lilac and compare this legend to America's "click click" story, debating the fear factor of such ghostly encounters. Finally, we dive into the unsettling world of Japanese folklore, discussing the onryo, or vengeful ghosts, and providing practical advice for those brave enough to explore Japan's supernatural side. Don't miss out on this eerie and engaging episode of Macabre at Midnight!

Ever wondered about the true nature of fairies? Prepare yourself for a spellbinding journey as we uncover the dark and eerie folklore of the Sluagh, the malevolent fairy folk from Ireland and Scotland. After a brief summer hiatus, we return with a brand new editor to elevate your listening experience and plenty of fresh content, including details on our upcoming giveaways. This episode unravels the myths surrounding the Sluagh, their sinister habit of stealing spirits and transforming them into wicked dogs, and the unsettling encounters that suggest these beings are anything but benevolent.
In this episode, we delve deeply into Celtic lore, specifically focusing on the Sluagh or Sidhe. We'll debunk the popular misconception of fairies as friendly creatures and reveal their darker, more terrifying sides. From the moral dilemmas of transferring curses, akin to the plot of "It Follows," to the harrowing story of a boy from Barra, Scotland, whose soul was stolen by the Sluagh, we cover it all. Expect to be both entertained and spooked as we discuss how these malevolent spirits have influenced cultural beliefs and personal experiences. Join us as we navigate these tales and invite you to feel like part of our haunted family.
