About Maharashtra Mater - a Frontier Media podcast
Maharashtra Mater speaks of the connection to a motherland that can never be severed. It takes the core format of a conversational podcast about a renewed sense of being uprooted when catastrophe elsewhere strikes - an "elsewhere" where the essence of your cultural identity truly resides. Bookended with poetic sound tapestries that will evoke distant geographies, the conversation between filmmaker João Paulo Simões and Marathi art-therapist Uzma Kazi revolves around profound and difficult questions about faith, healing and belonging against the backdrop of the Covid-19 upsurge in India.
Frontier Media (https://frontiermedia.blogspot.com/)'s production of the very first MIGRATION MATTERS (https://www.migrationmattersfestival.co.uk/) Podcast!
A podcast fully integrated into the Migration Matters experience is the confluence of the Festival’s large scope of cultural expression and the more local notion of community.
Tailored to build up the momentum in the weeks ahead of launch and operate as a companion-piece to the festival itself, the podcast is designed to broaden the dialogue in a format that also creates the unmediated opportunity for reflection.
Bringing it down to the specific, one can reach a wider public, whilst touching the hearts of individuals in ways that feel both personal and socially pertinent.
Featuring sound design by filmmaker João Paulo Simões (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3498249/) and music by Maya Youssef (http://mayayoussef.com/)!
