Make a Life ( Life in the New Normal) is a podcast about living life in the new normal. Dealing with depression and anxiety, stress management and finding ways to make our life adaptive and responsive during this trying times.
Studies have shown that the experiences we have as a child create a big impact on us during adulthood. Good and positive experiences developed trust, greater level of happiness and self esteem. On the other hand childhood trauma also has an impact on us during adulthood. It can impact future relationships and lead to other issues like depression and low self esteem. Experiencing trauma in childhood can impact the way that we form attachments in romantic relationships. A survey suggest that the students who experienced physical, emotional, or sexual abuse were more likely to exhibit attachment styles (https://www.verywellmind.com/marriage-insecure-attachment-style-2303303) that were fearful, preoccupied, and dismissive. It also found that students that did not experience childhood trauma were much more likely to have secure attachment styles into adulthood. Exposure to traumatic events can also cause self-destructive behavior (https://www.verywellmind.com/self-destructive-behaviors-in-ptsd-2797552), and even difficulty trusting others (https://www.verywellmind.com/coping-with-insecurity-in-a-relationship-5207949).

Cynicism, Why is it Bad for Us?
Are you the type of person who believes that people are motivated purely by self-interest? Do you have the attitude to distrust others’ motives? Then, you must be cynical; you have a general lack of faith or hope in people motivated by ambition, desire, greed, gratification, materialism and goals. For this week’s episode we will talk about cynicism, why is it bad for us and what can we do to stop being cynical.
Cynics certainly work hard to avoid harm. But unfortunately, they can end up harming themselves. In their effort to avoid getting burned they mistrust even those who want to be friendly and supportive toward them, they exhaust themselves by constantly trying to stay on guard. They pass on valuable opportunities for cooperation because they seem too risky. At the same time, they can spend too much time and money trying to protect themselves by monitoring and controlling other people.
A cynical attitude hurts you in ways you’d probably never expect. On the whole, it affects your health, career, earnings, and relationships. Here are some of the ways that being cynical can be detrimental to your well-being.

Are You Becoming Toxic? Ways to Change Your Toxic Behavior This Coming New Year
Last week’s episode talked about the signs to look out for and how to deal with toxic people in every area of our lives. Today we will try to look on ourselves, are we becoming toxic? This episode is very confronting because we will talk about toxicity within ourselves.
Of course, there's a difference between being toxic and acting toxic. The first is when it's ingrained in our personality, and we actively enjoy hurting others; the second corresponds to aspects of our behaviors. Sometimes without knowing it, these toxic behaviors can take us over. Think about it as a muscle into which you're unknowingly pumping metaphorical steroids, and soon it looks like The Hulk.
The good news is, with a little self-reflection and asking for feedback from others, we can become aware of these habits and eradicate them so we can become better people. Here are a few of the most common behaviors that even good people can develop that might actually be hurting those around them—as well as how to change course for the better.
