Making Me Watch Movies

About Making Me Watch Movies

There’s a new gold standard in film criticism, and it’s three guys with microphones and absolutely no credentials. Jake is a connoisseur of Asian cinema and films that remind you what it means to be human. Matt prefers movies about deeply disturbed people—the kind that leave you wanting to take a long, scalding shower. And Anthony? He loves "basic" movies, the kind that make you feel like a red-blooded, flag-waving American. Together, they curate the most eclectic, unpredictable, and undeniably superior film library (which, to this day, has never repeated a director—because we have taste). Each episode, they force-feed you cinematic greatness and then aggressively debate whether the movie was actually worth your time. Welcome to Making Me Watch Movies—the only movie podcast that matters. MMwM is a bimonthley (lol) podcast available anywhere that matters! ••• YouTube.com/@MakingMeWatchMovies Instagram.com/making_me_watch_movies_podcast/

The Hunt (2012) Directed by Thomas Vinterberg

The movie you’re making me watch today is The Hunt (2012), a gut-punching Danish drama directed by Thomas Vinterberg that’ll leave you questioning everything about truth, trust, and mob mentality. Starring Mads Mikkelsen in a raw, heart-shattering performance as Lucas, a kindergarten teacher whose life unravels when a child’s innocent lie sparks accusations of abuse, this film dives deep into the chaos of a tight-knit community turning on one of its own. Vinterberg, the Dogme 95 rebel behind ...

   Possession (1981) - Andrzej Zulawski

Welcome to *Making Me Watch Movies*, the podcast where we force each other to endure films we’d never pick ourselves—and then argue about whether it was genius or just plain traumatizing. And oh boy, does today’s pick deliver on the trauma. This week, we’re wrestling with Andrzej Żuławski’s 1981 nightmare fuel, *Possession*—a film so batshit it was banned as a ‘video nasty,’ features Isabelle Adjani screaming her way into horror history, and includes… whatever *that thing* in the apar...

The Great Outdoors w/ Dan Aykroyd and John Candy feat. Haig Hovnanian

The movie you're making us watch today is The Great Outdoors (1988)! This classic John Candy and Dan Aykroyd comedy throws us into a vacation from hell, complete with bear attacks, speedboat mishaps, and Aykroyd’s relentless one-upping. But this time, we’re not watching alone—our guest and good friend Haig chose this movie, so you can blame him for all the 80s nostalgia, dad jokes, and questionable vacation planning. Does The Great Outdoors still hold up, or is it just another relic of its ti...
