Hi! This is from Ishira and Maneth, your hosts for “Making the right play”. MTRP is a new multimedia series where we will discuss how we dealt with the complexities of college and beyond. We plan on bringing in guests every week from different colleges, majors, industries and fields to discuss what they did and how they might differ from us in their choices.
Another Route to Product Management | Kartheek Gajjala | S02E04
One of our biggest supporters is up next!
We are extremely happy to introduce Kartheek as our next guest. Kartheek and I met at Geotab when I was interning there after my first year of college. We have been in touch ever since and we were able to share a lot of memories including playing on the same basketball team for the company. From a career standpoint, Kartheek has consistently found ways to solve problems he genuinely cares about. As you can see through his experience Kartheek transitioned from being a Software Engineer at NVIDIA to a Product Manager in his recent roles. People have different ways to get their first break as a Product Manager and our episode will cover Kartheek’s. We also cover a few fun stories between us at Geotab, his experiences at the University of Waterloo and go over the spaces we see ourselves working in down the line.

A Journey To Microsoft | Chloe Quijano | S02E03
Get to know another superstar!
I met Chloe when we were Google Developer Student Club leads, her at UOT and me at McGill. Over the course of our collaboration, one thing that struck me about her was her incredible drive. She landed the explore internship at Microsoft, became the first lead for a Codeacademy chapter in Canada and was a speaker at Google I/O are no easy feats. Both Ishira and I were excited to hear about her journey thus far has been and we were stoked to hear what she plans on doing as the years go on.
We hope this episode inspires you too!

Demystifying Data Engineering | Canishka De Silva - Data Engineer at Meta | S02E02
You've met the younger brother, now for the older one. Please welcome Canishka De Silva!
Canishka is one of our favourite guests of the season! An alumnus of The University of California, Berkeley (what a dump), Canishka is currently a data engineer working at FMeta (previously Facebook). During our sitdown with him, we got the chance to go over what being a data engineer meant, from every possible angle, be it what the role is, what you need to know to land it, how it defers from data science, and why Canishka decided it was for him. If you're considering a career in data engineering or data science this episode is an absolute must. We were so glad Canishka was able to join us and look forward to sharing his invaluable insights with you.
