In the book and in her testimony to the Utah State Senate, Sherry has been clear about something important. She doesn't see herself primarily as the daughter of a felon. She sees herself as the victim of family vlogging, a childhood spent on camera of privacy that was never hers. Family vlogging ruined my innocence long before Ruby committed a crime. That's the distinction she keeps making. The criminal abuse came later, but the harm of being raised in a performance started much earlier, and Sherry is still untangling which parts of herself are really her and which parts were shaped by a childhood that was never hers to control.
