The Man God Took, Noah’s Ark & the Ancient Tradition That Changed Enoch Forever
What happened to Enoch after God “took” him?
Genesis gives us one of the strangest statements in the Bible: Enoch walked with God—and then he was simply gone.
But that tiny unexplained passage eventually develops into something extraordinary.
In Part 15 of The Book of Enoch Investigation, we follow Enoch through Genesis, 1 Enoch, 2 Enoch and later Jewish mystical literature to investigate one of the biggest claims surrounding him:
Did Enoch eventually become the heavenly figure known as Metatron?
And the evidence is much more complicated than the internet usually makes it sound.
1 Enoch does not call Enoch Metatron. Genesis certainly doesn’t. Instead, we can actually watch Enoch’s identity develop across centuries of ancient literature—from human patriarch, to heavenly traveler, revealer and scribe, to a glorified figure entering the divine presence, and eventually to his identification with Metatron in later Jewish mystical tradition.
But while researching this episode, another story collided directly with our investigation.
Researchers are currently conducting new fieldwork at the mysterious Durupınar Formation in Türkiye, a boat-shaped geological formation that has been claimed for decades to be the remains of Noah’s Ark.
New subsurface surveys, drilling and extensive physical sampling have renewed those claims.
So… did they actually find Noah’s Ark?
We examine what researchers have really found, including reported radar anomalies, possible underground voids, elevated carbon measurements, newly reported pottery fragments and roughly 1,000 physical samples now undergoing analysis—and separate those findings from the much bigger claims circulating online.
And there’s a reason Noah belongs in this episode.
Because in 1 Enoch 106, Noah’s birth becomes one of the strangest stories in Enochic literature. His appearance terrifies his father Lamech so much that he questions whether the child could somehow be connected to the Watchers.
Eventually the question reaches Enoch.
And Enoch reveals that judgment is coming.
The Flood.
Which gives us an incredible ancient trajectory:
Enoch → Methuselah → Lamech → Noah → Flood
