From MBA classmates to co-founders: Tom and Aaron on building snack startup ChewChew
What happens when two students meet on the first day of their MBA and decide to build a business together? In this episode of Manchester MBA Voices, host Armaan sits down with classmates and ChewChew co-founders Tom and Aaron to explore how they launched a Thai-British healthy snack brand while completing the Full-time MBA at Alliance Manchester Business School. Coming from very different backgrounds, from commercial real estate and competitive football to healthcare innovation and a family agricultural business in Thailand, Tom and Aaron explain how their experiences shaped their approach to entrepreneurship. They discuss taking ChewChew from an idea to a product stocked across Manchester, why they chose to launch early and learn from real customer feedback, and how the Manchester Method helped them put lessons from strategy, finance and operations into practice. They also share the role of the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre and GC Angels in their start-up journey, what it meant to receive recognition for their products, and the challenges of balancing entrepreneurship with a demanding MBA. Plus, Tom and Aaron share their advice for anyone sitting on a business idea and wondering whether to take the first step.
