In many South Asian communities, mental health remains a taboo subject, particularly when it comes to men. The pressures of traditional masculinity, cultural expectations, and a reluctance to seek help can create a silent struggle for those facing mental health challenges. In this episode, we’ll explore the unique mental health struggles that South Asian men face, the impact of cultural stigma, and how these challenges are being addressed in today’s world. We’ll dive into the importance of breaking the silence, reshaping perceptions of strength, and creating spaces for open, honest conversations about mental well-being

Episode 5: An Interview with Ashani Dante, on Identity, Belonging and 'Flourishing' as an Entrepreneur!
In today's episode, I had the honour of interviewing someone I greatly admire, Ashani Dante. Ashani is the Founder of Flourish Journey (previously Flourish Girl). She is an ex-speech pathologist, TEDx Speaker, and an Australian-accredited Accredited Facilitator.
Her passion originated from being a speech pathologist, where she empowered children with various communication disorders to find their voice. Towards the end of 2016, she found that the rate of depression, anxiety and eating disorders amongst teenage girls were on a rise and it was in that moment that she found herself shifting her passion and focus towards giving teenage girls a voice.
In this episode, we talk about her childhood, her connection with her lineage, the importance of spirituality in her life, and most importantly her journey of starting Flourish Journey!

Episode 4: Representation & Stereotypes
Now, picture this: you turn on the TV or flip through an article, only to be greeted by the same tired stereotypes of South Asians. From the overachieving nerd to the spicy curry enthusiast, it's like we're stuck in a rerun of a bad sitcom that never quite got canceled.
But fear not, dear listeners! In today's episode, we're donning our capes (metaphorically, of course) to take on these pesky stereotypes and champion the power of representation.
Why does it matter, you ask? Well, besides wanting to see more than just caricatures of ourselves on screen, representation is about recognition, validation, and celebrating the kaleidoscope of cultures, experiences, and stories within our community.
So, grab your chai, settle in, and let's explore how these stereotypes are as outdated as dial-up internet (remember that?) and how we can rewrite the script to showcase the true brilliance and diversity of the South Asian experience.
But hey, it's not all serious talk! We'll sprinkle in some laughs, share anecdotes, and maybe even throw in a pop culture reference or two.
So, get ready to laugh, learn, and maybe even challenge a stereotype or two as we embark on this adventure together!

Whether your parents moved across the seas to give you and your family a new beginning and a chance at a better life or you decided to take that journey solo, being South Asian in a predominantly white country comes with its fair share of challenges. However, as my guests taught me in this episode, "We need to make it better for the future generations, through learning, understanding, and sharing information...and FOOD!"

Episode 2: Self Care & Self Love
Booking a getaway and taking a bubble bath are some of the ways we have seen 'self-care' and 'self-love' being depicted, however, not all of us have vacation days to book a trip and not all of us have bathtubs at home. What are some other ways, then, that we can incorporate self-care?
In this episode, I share some tips I have incorporated into my life, routine, and thinking that have helped make a difference because as someone wisely said,' Self-care is the greatest middle finger of all time.'
