FROM BLOOD PARLIAMENT TO TUKO KADI: Ademba Allans on Kenya’s Youth & Our Power
On this episode of Mantalk, we sit down with Ademba Allans to unpack his journey from documenting the events of Kenya’s 2024 protests footage that would later feature in the BBC’s Blood Parliament documentary to becoming a voice for youth civic participation through Tuko Kadi.
We talk about the risks he faced, including security threats and an alleged kidnapping attempt, and how those experiences shaped his understanding of what it means to speak up.
But more importantly, we ask: what does Kenyan politics actually mean to young people?
Where is our power? What is our responsibility? And what happens when young Kenyans realise that our significance isn’t just in protesting, but in participating, organising and deciding what comes next?
A conversation about fear, courage, politics, purpose and finding our power as a generation

Fatherhood, Grief, Marriage & Faith | 7 years later with Alvin Lee
Seven years later… we’re back with one of our very first guests.
Alvin Lee joined us in the early days of Mantalk, and so much has changed since then.
He’s now a husband and a father, and in this episode we catch up on everything the last seven years have brought — from marriage and fatherhood, to the pain of miscarriage and navigating grief, as well as the role faith has played throughout it all.
It’s an honest, vulnerable and incredibly special conversation, and honestly… it feels SO good to be back. A huge shoutout to our location sponsor, Glee Nairobi for having us.
So sit back, press play and enjoy this one. We hope you enjoy it half as much as we enjoyed making it, because we had a ball
