The Mariners just wrapped up the kind of homestand that can change the energy around a season: the bats started rolling, the pitching stayed elite, and Seattle’s staff finished the Toronto series with back-to-back shutouts and 24 straight scoreless innings. Emerson Hancock followed Logan Gilbert’s near-perfect outing with seven shutout innings of his own in Sunday’s 4-0 win.

The Mariners limp home from a brutal 10-game East Coast road trip battered, bruised, and still somehow sitting in first place in the AL West. After going 4-6 and losing several key players along the way, Seattle gets a much-needed day off to reset before a massive opportunity at T-Mobile Park.
The timing could not be better. The M’s are expected to get important pieces back, including Cal Raleigh and potentially J.P. Crawford, and they now face two struggling teams in the Orioles and Red Sox. The division is still wide open, but the margin is thin — Seattle entered the week at 37-36, just ahead of the pack in the AL West.
