Mary's Machete

About Mary's Machete

Every origin story has a Mary. Mary’s Machete, formerly known as Lo/ure, is a collection of short stories and poems from the book Machetes are Forged in Soft Rivers. The stories explore the many ways survival has became the foundation for the myths and lore regarding Black women. Mary birthed her own salvation and so did the women in these stories. It is my hope that these stories resonate with you, dear Listener. Mary’s Machete is created and read by Sannii Crespina-flores and Yram Collective.
