[…] Now, here's my big concern. So when we think about science of reading, it is entirely predicated on direct instruction, this idea of here is the letter A. This is what the letter A looks like. This is what it sounds like. There is no inquiry in discovering the alphabet. And so a lot of reading, especially the early reading, is direct instruction because that makes sense. I am now super duper concerned. And this is why I panicked and required you to, I needed you to come in. and record a podcast with me. I am really concerned that we're going to continue this idea of overgeneralizing what is being done properly in the literacy world, and we're going to try and apply it incorrectly to the math world.
