Welcome to the Meeting Point Matters podcast. Brining you informal conversations with the people, charities and organisations creating positive change in our communities. From inspiring stories and practical insights to new projects and community initiatives, we explore the work happening behind the scenes and the impact it has on people's lives.
Join me as I talk with charity professionals and local leaders to share ideas, celebrate success, and discover what it takes to build stronger communities. At the heart of every episode is our commitment to Inspire, Connect and Enable.
In this episode of Meeting Point Matters, I'm is joined by Tarrah Scott from Shropshire PCAS* to talk about the vital work the organisation does to support parent carers across Shropshire.
A Shropshire-based free to use, 100% independent and confidential advocacy service, or to put it simply… they are here to help adults with any disability to maintain independence and improve their quality of life.
They guide, support, and help protect vulnerable adults with disabilities with face to face support in their own homes.
Tarrah talks about the support available, the challenges families can face when navigating SEND services, and why connecting parent carers with one another can make such a difference.
It’s a fascinating insight into an organisation working hard to make sure the experiences and voices of Shropshire’s parent carers are heard.
* This episode was recorded in July and since then Tarrah has left PCAS.

David Rolfe - Telford Quakers
In this episode of Meeting Point Matters, I’m joined by Dave Rolfe from Telford Quakers for a fascinating conversation about the history, beliefs and traditions of the Religious Society of Friends – better known as the Quakers.
Dave takes us back to the origins of the Quaker movement, explaining how it began, what Quakers believe and how those beliefs have shaped their approach to community, equality, peace and social justice.
But this isn’t simply a history lesson. We also explore some of the things that make Quakerism distinctive – including their tradition of silent worship – and Dave shares some lighter and more unexpected insights into Quaker life.
Whether you know very little about the Quakers or have encountered them before, this conversation offers an interesting and accessible introduction to a fascinating part of our local and national history.
Quakers meet at Meeting Point House in the Octagon room on Thursdays 1.00pm - 1.30pm and Sundays 10.00am - 12.00pm.

Last Wishes Legal - Louise Clayton
What happens to the things we care about when we’re no longer here?
In this episode of Meeting Point Matters, I'm joined by Louise Clayton from Last Wishes Legal to explore the important world of legacy giving — and the lasting difference that a gift in someone’s Will can make to charities.
From supporting local causes and community organisations to leaving something meaningful for future generations, legacy giving is about much more than money. It’s about values, memories and the things that matter to us most.
As always, we also get to know the person behind the role, discovering what motivates Louise, what brought her into this work and why helping people think about their lasting legacy is something she cares so deeply about.
A thoughtful conversation about life, legacy and the difference we can all leave behind.

Ann Trehern - Christians Against Poverty
In this episode I am joined by Ann Trehern from Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to explore the incredible work they do supporting people across the UK who are facing debt, financial difficulty, unemployment and life on a low income.
CAP is about much more than helping someone deal with their debts. Through partnerships with local churches, CAP provides free professional debt help, money coaching, life skills groups and job clubs — helping people not only deal with an immediate crisis, but build the confidence, skills and resilience to move forward.
Their approach combines practical support with the human connection that can be so important when someone is feeling isolated, overwhelmed or without hope.
Since CAP began in 1996, more than 35,000 people have become debt free through the church-based movement, with more than £500 million of debt written off or repaid by people who have become debt free. In 2025 alone, 2,008 adults became debt free with CAP's support.
But behind those numbers are real people, real families and real stories of lives changing — and that is what makes conversations like this so important.

Sam Haydon - Stay Charity Telford
In this episode of Meeting Point Matters, I’m joined by Sam Haydon, Fundraising Manager at Stay Telford, to talk about the work behind one of Telford’s important local charities.
Sam shares an insight into Stay’s work supporting people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness, as well as the realities of raising the funds needed to keep that support going.
We talk about the people behind the statistics, the challenges faced by those who find themselves without a safe and secure place to call home, and why community, compassion and practical support can make such a difference.
It’s also a chance to look at fundraising from the inside — what it takes to bring people together around a cause, the importance of local partnerships and why supporting organisations like Stay is ultimately about investing in people and in our community.
A thoughtful and honest conversation with Sam about homelessness, fundraising and the difference that local people can make.

In this episode of Meeting Point Matters, I’m joined by Anna Williams from Lingen Davies Cancer Support to talk about the charity’s work supporting people affected by cancer across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Wales.
Anna shares an insight into the support Lingen Davies provides, from helping people navigate the challenges that can come with a cancer diagnosis to providing practical and emotional support when it is needed most.
We talk about the difference that local, accessible support can make, the importance of being there for families as well as individuals, and why the work of charities like Lingen Davies goes far beyond what happens in the treatment room.
It’s a conversation about community, compassion and the power of making sure people don’t have to face cancer alone. Anna also talks about the importance of fundraising and the incredible role that local people, businesses and organisations play in helping Lingen Davies continue its work.
A warm and insightful conversation about cancer support, community and the difference that being there for someone can make.
